I have written poems since I was kid and always the most "moving" events in my life, have always turned into a poem. Well LD is no different. Dguy's moving poem gave me the courage to post my own personal poem. I normally don't share my poetry with anyone, sometimes family, it has always been sort of like a therapeutic diary to me, but I was moved to go ahead and brave it out and post it. (I tried to post it under his thread, but there is a glitch when I try to reply) So here it is, I hope it helps some of you.

I AM A SOLDIER By: Dana

I am soldier tough and strong
everyday I fight the war within me
that goes on and on

I have never held a rifle, a grenade
or a gun
Instead my mind is my weapon
if this war is to be won

I soldier through the night
and the day time too
Fighting and unseen enemy
that attacks out of the blue

No place to run, no place
to hide
The enemy will find me
he lives inside

Weeks, months and sometimes
years go by
But I am a soldier and I refuse
to die

I am not a Marine, or even a Navy
Seal
But I have spirit and fight
and I will heal

So when the enemy throws a
grenade of doubt
My answer back I do shout!

I will win this war, on that you can
bet
Lyme Disease won't beat me,
I'll be an LD vet

So if you have your days, when
you think you will lose
Remember you are a soldier
and you will win if you choose!

Great and wonderfull poem.

I cringed when I heard Lyme Disease because my head has been screwed with all these other things going on in my body. Candida, mycoplasma,, who knows what else.

I recentlly has a naturopath discover about 7 strains of lyme in me. OMG

Always remember the body has the ability to restore and heal itself.

Thanks for the compliments...but I wrote it when I read what what Lymie said that getting well is 99% attitude and I so believe that if you believe you can get well, you will get well.

Think of all the people out there that have no idea they have LD, never receive treatment and get well and never know what happened.

Sometimes, I wonder if it is best not to know too much...knowledge is power to a point, after that it can seem overwhelming and we lose our hope.

Take care.

Great poem: a soldier fighting Lyme disease and the IDSA ducks as well.

Betty - I have so much poetry I have been told to copyright, I know I should, but if that poem gets someone else rich I will sue!! [cussing] HA!HA!

The name of the poem came from my son, he called me a soldier for fighting one day and then after reading a "survivors" attitude theory, I literally whipped the poem out in less than 5 minutes.

All of us with this disease are really soldiers, there is no other way to put it, we keep going and hoping, we are the strongest people on earth hands down.

Thanks everyone again.

[group hug]
