I am fairly new to LymeNet. I have about 50 of the Lyme/Babs symptoms, including Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue the last 7 years. I started my Mepron/Zith combo on Monday; stayed on it 5 days.
I stopped the Mepron today, because of a crushing chest pain that seems to wrap around my back and front and effect my heart with palps.
It comes on every time the same - about 30 mins. after taking the Mepron and lasts 4 hours, then is gone. It happens each time.
I took the Zith alone today, and don't have the chest/heart reaction.
I'll call my Doc on Monday, but wanted some input. I want to take the Mepron; I know what it's for - Babs. I know I need to take something to kill the parasites.
I'm trying to figure out if this is a die off hex or a drug reation.
I don't want to mess around with chest pain. It seems to me I would continue with die off and it wouldn't pattern my Mepron intake, but this is all new to me.
Your thoughts appreciated.
This is all so scary!!
thanks, M

Hi marcelle,
I have had the chest pain/heart palps while treating for Babesia also, but I too, think it's a good idea to call your doctor.
Yes, it is scary! Hope it goes away for you soon.

Me too... For me it only happens in the middle of the night, wakes me from sleep.
I'm only 10 days into the stuff.
But I would def talk to your LLMD about this. Like you said, you shouldn't mess around with chest pain. If it gets really bad, I'd go the ER and have them run an EKG just to me safe.

Hi Marcelle
Yep the wacky heart beat is from Babs--
Most people when they first take Babs Meds there symptoms Increase and NEW one show up--
This is normal for many people- me included-
The crazy heart beat is scary but you are most likely going to have to go threw this to get better --
It is Important Not to Mis Any doses of your Babs meds-- Do Not Stop your meds-
If you stop your meds you will Lose any progress that you have made and take many steps backwards --
I made it threw the crazy heart beat and chest pain and all--
You can Too --Jay --

HI, Hang in there with your meds, my daughter has experience the chest pain and the wacky heart thing off and on since starting treatment 2 1/2 years ago and is still here.
Do get it checked out though. EKG, holter monitor or other tests can be done to make sure your heart is ok. It is important to not quit taking your meds though.
When you do the little buggers come out to play and multiply. Hang in there, it isn't an easy road, but you can do it.
I don't have Lyme but have lived with my daughter through it for 16 years. I am a cheerleader!! I am the one that does the research and care since she can't do it herself.
Take care and hang in there, this is the place to be.
