I use to herx about every 28 day to be exact but for the past few months it seems it comes around every 32-40 days....
Is this right? Does anyone else experience this?

Ya never know WHEN it will come. Maybe the full moon is overriding your usual herx pattern.
Cute cartoon...and oh so true!

Iam always herxing when taking ABX it seems but I was referring to the BIG WHAMMY herx that happens on average about once a month for most if not all lyme sufferers...

I too herx sooooooooo bad every 28 days but also seem to herx to some degree most of the time - I thought it would get easier as time goes by, but for me even small dosages still make me herx like crazy (mind you Nanotek Chitosan has helped so much, but I am waiting for a delivery) at this moment in time my herx is 28 day so very bad It is off the scale. I have never yet reached anywhere near full dosages on orals - although on IV I was on massive dosages (4gms day rocephin & full dosages of Teicoplanin)
My biggest worry is our LLMD stated only 35% of his patients herx, that confused me as on this site all you hear are posts about herx's.
Time scale of a herx can often be changed apparantly if you swap meds.
Do you herx continually?

What about those of us, NOT taking ABX, who experience the 4-6 week cycle of worsening symptoms?
This must be explained as something other than a herx.
Are any others, not on ABX, experiencing these cycles?

SouthernCo...good point because I still have a cycle even though I've been off abx for about 4 yrs. It is about 28 day period. I think of it as the time the critters come out to play and multiply. I zap 'em with my rife machine and they get rather nasty when facing death or disruption.
During the abx years my cycles were shorter at 21 days. But during most of that time I seemed to go from bad to worse almost hourly or daily. I'm just thankful it's no longer like that.
Pam
Bryon, I loved the cartoon.

I know mine come every 28to34 days but 35 it coulkd be the strain or maybe you are just winning the battle and finally messing them up?
Just try to keep the records of when it seems to hit you maybe pretty soon they will diminsh to barely recongnizable herx ? Hope so for you.
Now my theory I havent had a recognizablke herx for a while just general acheness no head cold symptoms. But that being said now I have beeen on minocin for a couple of months and my shouldetrs bothe started hurting a couple of weeks a go and I meen they hurt like you took all the acheyness that was in my body and shoved it in both shoulders man it hurts. I thgink minocin is either causing the pain on its own or its penetrating deeply an finally starting to knock the sobss off! Either way Iam sticking to minocin all winter if I can or might try tetracyciline towards the end..
Iam also switching in and out after a few months was bactrim, now on tindamax. minocin 100mg morning 100mg nightly tini twice a day to.
off topic I was depressed some over the weekend just tired of people who could care less about sick people. I was even called a a$$hole last week by someone who to top it off is a a$$hole so what are you going to do, Iam just really tired and wore down sorry for being so depressing I hope you keep getting better byron. I wouldnt worry about a few days off on the herx schedual we need less worrry and to be possitive dont let this bug keep ypou down!!

I have heard that cycling is characteristic of Lyme. It seems that the herx is related to that natural cycling.
I never had those cycles before abx, but I felt so bad all the time I don't think I would have noticed!
In the beginning I felt bad all the time, but there was a distinct time that I felt worse. Now I feel generally good, and have a few days of herx.

They replicate every 3-5 wks. So yes, you would naturally feel worse during that time whether on or off abx.
Second statement you made....Makes perfect sense to me!

SouthernCo:
The 4-6 cycle of symptoms one gets when NOT antibiotics is the lyme flaring, or otherwise GROWING, replicating, having sex, etc. When you take the antibiotics, that cycle CAN GET NASTY= herx.. because instead of the lyme being able to do what it wants, you're killing it at its most vulernable time.
byron,
My herx cycle changed from 28 days to shorter- 21.

TheCrimeOfLyme:
About 8 years ago, that cycle ceased for me, coincidentally the same time I started taking colloidal silver. This was 7.5 years before diagnosis of Lyme. The cyclic symptoms had been mainly flu-like similar to the initial infection.
From my experience, your explanation makes a lot of sense.
