HELLO, Just started round three of my antiotics (3rd mth) and this time its flagyl.
Before it was doxy the ceftin.
Tried zithromax for a week and had to many negative side effects(dizziness diarhea)so my llmd told me to move on to the flagyl looks like my insurance is about up cuz I couldnt keep my job due to illness.
My question is there a natural way to fight yeast while on antibiotics?
I cant afford to pay 90 dollars for a mth supply of the nystatin...Thanks

Good garlic extracts, oil of oregano, Lactobacillus reuteri -based Probiotics, and Tribulus Terrestris extracts (if your male). I have personally had good luck with those, and I've tried a lot of things. Good Luck
How on earth does anyone swallow oil of oregano. I just bought some upon my LLMD's advice and it is so strong it BURNS both your throat and gut and the taste is also vile.

Mix a drop with a cup of water. I used a empty poland spring bottle that I shook up a lot because it is very hard to mix oil with water.

I believe cumunda is good for the GI tract.

Oil of Oregano works perty good-
Get it in capsules - in liquid form the taste is overwhelming
It will make you herx - every anti yeast med will make you herx because of the yeast dieing and releasing toxins that make you feel bad - Jay -

Since the oregano capsules are expensive, I use the drops.
I use three drops in a juice glass filled only about half full of water. The drops float and I just swallow the whole thing quickly.
Stirring or shaking makes the oil stick to the glass or spoon and it gets wasted I think.
Occasionally the oil burns the back of my throat, but swallowing more waster immediately makes it go away.
This is good for viruses too. I gargled with it at two am when I woke up with a sore throat last week and it (the sore throat) disappeared.

It has to be mixed with an oil. Either buy the "Oregano Oil" gelcaps that are pre-mixed with some oil (probably olive). Or, you can buy "Oil of Oregano" (from a good brand like NOW), and mix up a liquid dropper vile with like 1-2 drops of oil of oregano per 10 drops of olive oil. Then I drop like 10 drops into a gelcap and put the cap on and swallow it quickly.

I did take the Oil of Oregano mixed with water, but it burned in my esophagus and stomach for a couple of hours and kept repeating on me.
I hadn't thought of mixing it with oil though, might try that to see if it's easier. Thanks

Yea, essential oils are generally lipophilic (Lipid/Fat soluble), so mixing them in water will still burn. Mixing with oils (fish oil, vegetable oils like olive oil) will dilute them, so when they come in contact with your skin, it won't be at such a concentrated point to where it irritates and burns. I have had some "burp back" from oregano capsules, but they are effective. I don't think I could stand the burning of oil outside of the capsule. Some might. I cant even do a mint toothpaste as they all burn. I did a little research that I hope helps. ===============
Oregano oil CAPSULES prevent burning of the tender tissue of our mouth, esophagus, GI tract. It's best to use factory sealed gelcaps (New Chapter is one good brand) rather than making your own so that they hold up and you can be sure no oil will burn your skin or that a home-made capsule will not melt in your throat on the way down.
Essential oils are VERY strong and very concentrated. Most essential oils are for aromatherapy, not for internal use.
There are many safety considerations. They should never be used straight on skin (carrier oil needed). Do not use near an open flame. etc. etc. (links below)
There are some formulas of oral oregano oil, but that may not be ESSENTIAL oil, or it may be. But they mixed with another oil in a specific concentration. just one: www.raysahelian.com/oregano.html Still, most people find the capsules best, and even then, some people can take this more easily that others.
It does not burn, but then it's not an essential oil.
You can do some searches on PubMed and Google for that, too.
While Olive Leaf and Oregano possess some same and some different properties, both are anti-fungal.

Coconut oil is supposed to have anti-yeast activity (I think it is caprylic acid? You can do a search here in Medical Questions and get lots of info), and it tastes good too.

I heard good things of caprylic acid. Didn't try it, though.

Grapefruit seed extract is good for GI candida.
Rizols work very well too.
Pau d'arco tincture, is good for yeast all over your body.
Garlic never did a very good job in my case for fungi, nor coconut oil (strong nausea or intolerance).

I just stumbled upon this. I had heard of it and seen it, but did not realize it focuses on Oregano.
The Cure Is in the Cupboard: How to Use Oregano for Better Health (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
You can look inside this book. The index lists five pages with mention of lyme disease.
(39 customer reviews - average 4 stars out of 5)
It's just under $14. and qualifies for free shipping if your total order for free shipping products is a certain amount ($25, I think).

I've used caprylic acid - very good. I've also used pau d' arco, grape seed extract and I used to use garlic until I became allergic to it.
There is a thorne research product Formula SF722 that uses Undecylenic Acid. This is used by some professionals and considered an effective product. There are some stuides to back up undecylenic acid.
There is also a product called candex that has enzymes that break the cell walls of candida which kills it.
