Is it possible that this is just occuring as means to eliminate toxins?

If it continues for more than a day I would call your doctor. It is a symptom of c. difficile which can be caused by many antibiotics. But it can also be caused by a herx.
Read the material with your drug or call the pharmacist to see if you should be concerned about diarrhea with this antibiotic.
Make sure you drink lots of fluids. You might want to get some Smart Water because it has electrolytes in it.
Did you start taking any supplements? High doses of magnesium cause loose stools.

I agree with Aniek, it could be a side effect of the medication, make sure you read the pamphlet that came with your anitbiotics. A lot of antibiotics have this as a side effect. Usually this happens within 5-10 days of starting an antibiotic because the antibiotic kills off some of the "normal" bacteria in your digestive tract. How long have you been on antibiotics?
If it were C-Diff, it would cause your diarrhea to be extremely noxious smelling, trust me. When I was working in the hospital, we would just walk into a room and we would know that someone had C-diff jsut from the smell. (not to be gross ) It just produces very foul smelling stools.
Stay hydrated! And follow up with your doctor if it continues!!!

I have also had it happen from yeast.
I agree with aniek that you should call your dr if it keeps happenning.
It can be cause by different things and I know from personal expereince it is easy to dehydrate when you have c.diff.

Funny, I came on the board today to research this topic! I have made a connection and was looking for others with the same scenerio.
What I have noticed is I will have a big increase in muscle pain and be very fatiqued, then voila,' the next day I have diarrhea [foul smelling] and then I feel soooo much better. I strongly suspect this is associated with herxing and the dead bacterial toxins are being eliminated through the bowel tract.
I have been on Rocephin IM, Zithromax, Flagyl, Malarone, and Diflucan for yeast prevention which all definitely sets me up for developing clostridium difficile but the diarrhea is not happening every day.
Called my physician and reported it and the subject of CD was not brought up. He just ordered ANOTHER medicine...said it is for the diarrhea and to help clear the toxins. How many meds is that now? About 25? Good God!!
