I started my Doxy about a week ago. This is the first time I have used this medicine since I had a herx from hell on Tetracycline.
Anyway, I am starting to have the twitching and crappy feeling of a herx. My normal body temp stays right around 97.4. Last night I took my temp and it was 95.2. I waited a couple of hours and took it again and it was 99.1.
This morning I was freezing but sweating. I figured I must have a fever so I took temp again. It was 95.3. I just took it again..I am still feeling cold but not sweating and it's 99.
What the heck is going on? Is this a new herx? I have a call into my LLMD. His nurse practioner is supposed to be calling me back.
I just had labs done 2 weeks ago and everything with thyroid came back really good. I know because I checked them over too.
Is this a common temp. problem. Going from really low to fever?

Kitkat, I've had body temps up and down for 2 years...... I feel like I am on fire and sweating, but my temp is 97.1.......if it goes any higher than 98.6 I feel like I have a fever. My thyroid studies are normal,except for a nodule I have had for a few years. When I am in the cold I freeze, when I am in the heat I sweat. It's like my body does not have a thermostat!!!!! Can't wait to hear the replys....no answers, sorry, but in the same boat you are.

I've been on treatment for 2 months now. I am having the same temperature jumps.
My doctor tested for thyroid and viruses. Meanwhile, I inadvertently put too much armour in my organizer, and when I realized it, stopped taking the armour for a couple of days, and then added in a small amount. I was thinking I would build up to the original, but felt better at less.
So, even tho my thyroid levels came back good, the doctor has me staying in the lower level. The cycling between chills and feverish perspiring isn't as drastic as before, but still happening.
And now I sure am gaining weight!

I don't know what would cause the temp fluctuations.
It is freezing here in MI today, my husband is outside putting up Christmas lights and I am in the house with a heating pad on my feet and my hands are like ice !!!!!!
I will wake up in the middle of the night, or right before I wake up and either be sweating, or feel chilled to the bone......
Go figure.................

My daughter had that happen almost exactly--I think on Tetra. She went from 95.9 to 100.7 in less than two hours. Then back down to 97 before she came back up to 99.
Strange.....
my husband's temp dropped to 95 several times during herxes (zith mostly)

Same here: erratic temp changes with herxes. Maybe we all need both a t-shirt and a sweater that display "Caution: Immune system at work". :-)

Thank you all. My temp has now risen to 98..which feels really good. I took a really warm shower and layed in bed with tons of blankets and a hat on.
My LLMD office called. I spoke to the nurse practicioner. She said since I am having muscle twitching and knee pain that the temp thing is part of my herx. She said my thermometer seems to be broken from the herx. She said if it drops any lower than the 95.2 again I need to call them back and have them paged.
It is strange...it drops within an hour of taking the doxy.

I have very erratic body temps. 95.2-97.6, never higher.
My thyroid tests are normal. My temp can be 95.2 and my pits are sweating! I also feel very cold after eating breakfast...very weird!
I have never been told the reason for this, Doc's just shrug when I ask.
Sorry I don't have an answer, maybe someone else will know.

Amazingly, my temps am 95.9 JUMPED to 98.2 in 2 hours, after 10 mg lexapro an SSRI!!! I am SERIOUS. I found a study afterwards that said seratonin talks to the T cells, they didnt know what that means but it does for sure do that. So given that and my temp Jump, add it up. So, I then went into a massive herx that was more pronounced then the abx I was on for months already. This then followed with massive improvments. I even dosed up to 60mg!! And herxed harder and harder, and now, I feel at peace, but wore out. I think I won. Its not over but lexapro I beleive showed the immune system in my body how to kill these evil bugs. 32 lyme bart, and 6yrs babs

I have the same thing. Like a few times I've taken my temp it's been up to 99.4 and then an hour later it'll be all the way to 96.9. It's strange, but not quite sure what it means exactly. A herx reaction though does make sense.
When you have a temp the body/immune system is awake and trying to kill things. So maybe when our temps are that high, our bodies are really at work and then when our temp is low, maybe the lyme took over for a while and our temp dipped like crazy? Just me babbling as I have NO idea...
