Hi everyone! I'm a newbie to Lymenet Long story short:
EM Rash Spring 1999 In IL
Month later secondary rash
Went to family duck with list of symptoms and rash ..per duck- must consider bite lyme infected (was given no abx) because Elisa was neg! (Dumb, Dumb)
He said that I would be fine and sent me on my merry way- I trusted that he knew what he was doing! (big mistake)
Year later- Thought I was going to die because of all kinds of symptoms... blah blah blah you all know that story.
Duck gives me 1mth of abx-still sick, numerous neg elisa's.
Sent to 2,3,4 duck all say no LD- you have Fibro!
2001 Found wonderful Dr. In Mo. - Positive Western blot!!! (Finally) Now getting somewhere!
2001-2004 not getting better and ran out of $$ no longer afford Dr. In Mo.
Present-Now I have no job (that means no ins) and I just moved to KY to be with family.
I'm feeling really sick any suggestions on what I can do naturally such as vitamins until I get a job and Ins so I can go back to wonderful Dr.?

Welcome to LymeNet! I am sorry to hear of your predicament, which unfortunately, is not all that uncommon.
By the time my Lyme was correctly diagnosed (first was MS, then Fibro), I was allergic to all the antibiotics that fight it,so I can give you some suggestions of OTC items that have helped me over the years. I've been sick for almost 22 years now.
Some may disagree, but I feel there are 3 supplements which are absolutely essential. 1. Magnesium, taken in several doses daily, raised slowly up to bowel tolerance 2. B complex vitamins 3. Digestive enzymes
The herb I've found best for treating Lyme in my case is Samento, which is not cheap, but far cheaper than paying to see your LLMD. It may help you until you can see him again.
You may also look into the Cowden Protocol, which uses Samento as one of it's herbs, or the Buhner Protocol, which uses several other herbs, depending upon your funds.
Best of luck, Klutzo

If I couldn't see a doctor, I would be on the Cowden Protocol .... it's available at nutramedix.com.

Any chance you could go to a walk-in clinic (usually inexpensive), fib a little and tell them you just got over a bulls eye rash and now realize it was a Lyme bulls eye and would like 2 months of Doxy because you're very worried about Lyme...
Doxy is inexpensive even if you pay cash, and especially if you can get it filled someplace like CostCo...
Hate to see you go without at least *some* treatment until your financial situation improves. It would be SO worth it I believe...

the cowden protocol is expensive. if i couldn't see a doctor, i'd personally go on the buhner protocol - much cheaper, especially if you buy the herbs in bulk from 1st chinese herbs and encapsulate them yourself.
buy the book 'healing lyme' by stephen buhner, read it, and go from there.
good luck.

welcome! sorry you have been thru the mill like the rest of us, but GLAD you got to missouri for great treatment during the times you did!
in what i sent you, do a EDIT, FIND, and type needy meds; it should bring up a link or more about YOUR situation.
also do another search for melanie reber's financial resources; type melanie reber in there, and use FIND NEXT until you get the right one on FINANCES! good luck! glad you found us.. Posted by savebabe (Member # 9847) on :
I agree with six...The Cowden Protocal is helping a lot of people including myself.
