The url is to a page on Kathleen's website. I have long thought that Lyme was posssibly a biowar cover-up, and at other times considered that the the problem was Steere's massive ego. I don't know if the doctor who wrote the letter became an LLMD. in any case, the letter is frightening. Well worth reading.

Iam not sure adamm I think sometimes when people use that tool to shrink the intended link it puts it into fritz? If I had the original link i could put it in here even if it was deleted by owner in most cases using the wayback machine.

Sorry folks--this is the orignal url from Kathleen's post on ScimedLyme. I Tinyurled it, and something must have gone wrong. It is a letter from a doctor who was an early patient of Steere.

M.A.S. - the doc writing this story as a patient of Steere's - sounds like a pretty terrific doc (now that he has experienced ``the crime of lyme'' himself).
Regarding Steere, I love the way the `placebo card' always gets played when `intellectuals' are confronted with unsavory data. And this is really telling, also:
``And now he [Steere] was quite clear - [he said] what happened to me .... had nothing to do with medical science. Only data from clinical trials with placebo controls prove anything .... In fact, what I did [by taking antibiotics] only undermined his science!''
The author goes on to say: ``I have written about the value of the single-case study. So much in medical science has come from single-case studies but there is a bias against this in favor of large, double-blind placebo controlled studies. Of course they have their place, but they have drastic limits also.... but many, many academic leaders have blinders here and treat the ``double blind placebo controlled study''..... like a sort of Holy Grail.''
