I've been on doxy for two weeks 200mg BID. My LLMD is now adding zithromax starting with 1/4 tablet.
What can I expect? Anybody else on this combo?
My stomach is starting to get nauseaous on the doxy.

I've been treating for almost 6 months....
First month: 200 mg doxy Second month: Biaxin/Plaquenil Third month: IV Ceftriaxone Fourth month: Biaxin/Plaquenil Fifth month: 500 mg Zithromax/100 mg minocycline
I have found this last combo to be the most tolerable (so far at least). Minocycline and Doxy are both in the tetracycline family. Based on what I've read from others, doxy seems to cause more stomach problems than mino. As far as the Zithromax, no problems for me (and nausea has been my worst ailment from this disease....outside of treatment).

I'm on doxy 100mg BID and 300mg zith QD. No problems, has helped measurably.

I've been on Zith and mepron for many months and just recently, had doxy added into the mix, so I am taking zith with the doxy.
As far as what to expect, I can't really say since I've been struggling with the detox aspect and don't always know which end is up, but I would think that means this combo is doing SOMETHING.
Good luck to you.

I started with 500 mgs of zithro, then 2 weeks into that I started doxy. I found the zithro gave me more of an upset stomach than the doxy. But it seems to be a good combo for me.

I will be starting Doxy/Biaxin (sister to Azithro)the first week in Jan. My LLMD said this is a "dynaminte combo" and others have reported remission on this combo.
Hope the Azithro/Doxy work well for you.

I was on doxy/zithro/plaquenil for two months last spring. The doxy didn't bother me but I took it with food.
The zithro seemed to irritate my bowels though, but I got through the two months. Don't think I could have taken it much longer though. Everybody's different of course. And maybe it was the combination.

Thanks for your replies. I haven't started the zithromax yet as I wanted to get through the holidays.

I started 1/4 pill azithromycin tonight with supper. When can I take my doxycycline? At the same time? A few hours later?
Will soon be dropping Flagyl in favor of Malarone as soon a refill arrives in the mail.
According to my 2007 update from LLMD, another doc has reported remission in 93 patients with Babs & Bb using high dose Malarone (4 per day) + Zith (1-2) per day.
During the month I was on this combo (Malarone + Zith) I had zero muscle pain. YIPEE! Just don't think I stuck with it long enough.
Rifampin seems to control my muscle pain like Doxy or Minocin do but can't take those because of heparin.

As I recall, I took my Zithromax at the same time I took the Doxy. Don't know if it matters.

Thanks for your replies. I waited an hour to take the doxy after the zith, just to be safe.
How long does it take to see improvement? My symptoms are fatigue, malaise, and some brain fog and disruptive sleep. I just don't feel normal.
I don't have much pain, just some back of the neck discomfort usually in the mornings. Burning skin is faint and intermittent, so that's good.
I've been on cumada/burbur since July, and ABX since October. I was hoping I'd be well by now. This disease has a mind of its own.

I stopped the zith temporarily because there was in increase in symptoms and depression. The first night I took it I had a mild night sweat. Does this mean I have babs? Or is it just a Lyme reaction?
I wonder how many people have found Zith helpful?

Has anyone had any experience with Doxy, Zithro, and Heparin combination?
I noticed member 'Munch' posted something above regarding not being able to take a particular abx combo with Heparin? Can you or anyone else elaborate on that?
I recently showed positive for Bartonella through a FRY smear, and my LLMD has advised I do the above combination for 4 months (at least). Any advice/knowledge would be appreciated.

I would prefer to be on Doxy but was told it does not mix with heparin.
Anybody have different info?

I spoke with my LLMD as well as my pharmacist and neither expressed any issue with Doxy and Heparin interacting.
The pharmacist looked it up for me, showed me her printout, and explained that one has a very infrequently documented incidence of making the other less effective (I do not recall which was which). I believe the Doxy effected the Hep.
She simply expressed that taking them away from each other would be the best option. I trust this pharmacist (as much as one can trust a pharmacist) as I have been filling scripts with her for years now and she knows how ill I am.
Just wanted to share that with you and hear anyone's thoughts as well as anymore experiences with this ABX combo.
