I know that the Lyme test is not always accurate, even through Igenex, since the bacteria can hide, but does that go for the co-infections Babesiosis and and Ehrlichiosis?

(My lyme was positive and the Babesiosis and Ehrlichiosis were negative)

Unfortunately, it seems to. In my experience, Babesia and Bartonella definitely can take some time to show up in repeated testing. One took 4 months, the other about 8. For coinfections, I recommend, the Babesia FISH tests from IGeneX (as well as their standard antibody titer tests) and the Fry Clinical Labs coinfection test panel.

As Scott said, these co infections don't always show positive either. I suppose that is when it's best that we have a LLMD that can look at symptoms and treat on a clinical diagnosis.

In my case, I tested positive for lyme but none of the co's although my LLMD has been treating me for both bart and babs. Haven't had the test retaken at this point, but it's obvious that he was on to something since it's definitely been shaking things up.

Good luck to you and talk about your symptoms and concerns with your LLMD. Keep us posted.

Also remember too that there are many strains of babesia.

Igenex only tests 2 of them via Fish.

Mine was negative via Igenex.

You should have seen my babesia herx. [Eek!]

Thank goodness my LLMD treated on symptoms and not blood work.

Hugs,

Good question Trish! I was wondering the same

thing and now I don't have to ask. I was just

diagnosed over Thanksgiving.

My results were negative for Lyme. Although I

am 100% positive that I have had it for 7

years!!! My LLMD had me send blood to Fry Labs.

I also had about 30 tubes of blood taken at a

hospital. One showed up negative, but Fry Labs

was positive for Bartonella!! I am being

treated for both as well as the seizures that I

started to develop with LD. [bonk]
