Is 100mg of doxy 2x per day for a month a high enough dose to do an antibiotic challenge?

I have an "indeterminate" WB from Igenex, and want to do the abx challenge to see if it will turn positive with another WB.

Unfortunately this is the only dose my doctor will give me, and I just can't afford to see a LLMD at the moment. Will this work? Thanks!

Hi -- I think you need minimum 300 mg/day, can you get some more?

Doh. Ok I'll attempt to go back to my infectious disease doctor and try to explain what I'm doing and hopefully she'll give me more. *fingers crossed*

One more question -

Has anyone here successfully turned an negative/inconclusive WB to a positive result with an antibiotic challenge?

I want to make sure I do this right, and it'd be great to hear from some people it has worked for.

My LLMD gives a Rx of 1500mg of flagyl on day one followed by

1500mg of biaxin on day two as an antibiotic challenge.

My husband just did it after several months of not treating.

Not a pretty sight to be sure. [dizzy]

I was given 200mg of doxy the first month following a Lyme

Diagnosis by a duck. I don't know if you would say I herxed,

But I sure felt like death (no better/no worse) on that dosage. [shake]

I was all possitives and on abxs one month before tests/ my wife wasnt possitive until the 3rd day urine test then the 2nd pee day which would put her on abx's for exactly 3 days the second pee and third pee were all high possitives compared to the first day on abx's and pee all negatives.

Ok I got enough doxycycline to take 400mg/day for 30 days.

I'm really confused now though. Does the antibiotic challenge work for the western blot test?

I've been reading about it for urine tests but can't find much information at all about it working for WB. [confused]
