Does anyone know if I could of contracted the ebv virus from Lyme. My test result for ebv was positive at 1686! The normal is under 100. Could this be complicating my Lyme?

Hi Trish,
You will notice that the people who have very high viral titers are also the ones with the worst cases of lyme...
My titers for EBV are also over 1600 I take grape seed extract, olive leaf and coconut oil. It seems to help me a great deal. I think,,,
Blessings, and Happy New Year

I have EBV but not sure what my numbers are. I don't think I am suffering much from it now but a tickbite last May gave me an acute flare of mono.
My arthritis is gone but my old headaches are returning. I haven't had them since I began treatment in 8/05.
I was treated homeopathically at that time and the headaches, hearing loss, stiff neck and mental confusion all cleared within 30 days of starting treatment.
I am toying with the idea of seeking that doctor again. I will discuss this with my LLMD on my next visit.

It may be possible, however the statistics show that over 90% of adults
Will show a positive antibody titer for viral illnesses such as EBV, CMV, etc.
I didn't know that the ones that show high viral antibodies were also the most sick.
Now I know what has been wrong with me.
More likely that you had the EBV virus sometime in life and that Lyme
Has suppressed your immune system to the point that these latent
Infections are able to get going again.
I too, have extremely high EBV, CMV and HHV6.
My last known bout with possible mono was about 25 years ago.
I've never been diagnosed with CMV, but my titers are so high that
The lab could only give a value that was greater than what they could measure.
I've been on Valcyte for almost 6 months now.
Hopefully I've made some progress in this area.
Hugs,
Geneal

I also had high EBV and mono initially. They are also cross reactive..which means you can get inaccurate results because your body is going wako inside. I look at it this way, LYME is making your immune system nuts.

My experience: I have chronic EBV along with the Lyme disease. At present I am symptom free but because my Lyme is also at the chronic stage since I went 27 years without being properly diagnosed, I am still on a maintenance dose of antibiotics ( Biaxin 500 mgs twice a day). The EBV symptoms flare about three times a year. When this happens I take Valtrex twice a day along with my antibiotic and the symptoms clear in about three days. Maintenance seems to be the way to go when you have these chronic illnesses. However, learning what works for you individually takes some time and the knowledge of a LLMD to personalize treatment for you.
Best wishes, SandiB

I just got tests result this morning and my HHV-6 IgG is high 1:320. Back in Aug '99 I tested positive for EBV and it was a new/recent infection, not past infection.
But I believe the HHV-6 results today have more to do with my most recent tick and spider bites.
I've got more work to do to eliminate the & company that's hiding out in my body. I call it lyme & company now. It's so much more than just co-infections mentioned on this site.

I don't believe that EBV has been shown to be transmitted via ticks. This is a common virus that most people carry but may become more of an issue when Lyme causes some immune-suppression. This supports my opinion that we cannot get well from Lyme with just ABX because most/all of us that have chronic Lyme have other issues that contribute to our problem and we have to deal with each of them to get well.
Researched Nutritionals has some nice transfer factor products that support immune response against many herpes viruses.

Well who knows what all tick(s) carries? lol Really depends on what that tick or spider was feeding on before he got ahold of us?????
Could be my immune system was so overwhelmed with something it did leave in me and I came in contact with something/someone and the virus and bam!!!!!
I do know that someday, hopefully in our lifetime, someone is going to find the answers to all these questions on vector/tick born illnesses.

Thank you for all your answers. It all makes sense, esp the fact that since lymies have a supressed immuune system it can allow other bacteria to thrive more aggressively. Thank you for all your input!
Now that I'm thinking, when I first saw my LLMD he did a holisitic treatment for my mono AND put me on antibiotics for the Lyme. I felt better the day after I saw him and blamed it on the antibiotics. Now I realize that most likely I was feeling better from the mono and not the Lyme.

My LLMD got the results of viral testing, and I still have high titers to EBV. (forgot to get a copy of it, but will at next appt.)
He told me to take olive leaf extract, 1 cap 3 times a day, spaced. I'm also on abx for lyme.
Wonder if I'll have detox symptoms from the OLE? I took 1 cap a day on my own for years, and don't remember having any reaction from it.
