I researched andrographis, and the only side-effect I heard about was that it stops progesterone production in women and sperm production in men.

Essentially, it is the antidote to the human race. I'm NOT saying that it is reliable birth control, because stopping progesterone in woman may not stop pregnancy . . . I'm just saying that it affects the human body in those two ways while it is being used.

Armed with that knowledge, I am not surprised that I had to get synthetic progesterone from my gynecologist to restart my cycle, even though I had long stopped the andrographis.

For me, it's just not worth tinkering with the hormones like that. I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, which denotes a lack of progesterone in the first place, so the absolute last thing I needed to do was stop it by using an herb.

When one hormone is lacking, often other ones rise (like testesterone in me), leading to a cascading effect that can end with nasty things like diabetes.

I think I over-did on Andrographis--ended up unconscious and in the ER twice. I wasn't taking that much--two tablets of standardized Andrographis 3Xs a day--so go slow if you use it.

My husband has been taking one tablet a day for years for a different thing. He's tested positive for Lyme since he started taking it.

That's my experience.

It is pretty easy to search for it on the internet.

Best,

Cass A
