I did look through the search but i was wondering people's responses/reaction to bactrim.
Did it help? how much?
was the herx horrible heavy and long or easy and light?
what tbds did you/do you have while treating with bactrim?
My body just feels so awful. And yes I know that one's persons expereince doesnt mean anything in relation to mine...
on that last post when someone asked what do you do when you loose hope
and i responded that i borrow someone elses until i find mine..
besides trying to make someone smile it really does hold some truth for me...
so if anyone has any extra hope regarding bactrim (lyme/babs) i'd appreciate it if i could borrow some for awhile.
I've been so sick for so long and i am just so tired.

I took bactrim ds while treating babesia along with malarone and zithromax.
In fact, my LLMD added it the second month of babs treatment.
I had night sweats every night until I started malarone.
They magically stopped.
I don't think I herxed from it....although it would be hard to tell.
Hugs,
Geneal

Bactrim helped me. I started on that...instant runs vomiting and headaches...slowly went away. I knew I was not alerigc to it, since I had taken it as a child. I think bactrim cleans out the intestional track. And being sulfur based its logical to assume it actually has detoxing properties to it. IE MSM is sulfur and its used for detox sometimes.

Great drug!!! I took it along with mepron and biaxin to hit both babs and bart.
I made great improvement of this drug, just make sure to drink a lot of water.

I like it .Have been on only one month for "light" babs and bart. My twitching, which was helped alot by Rifampin, has almost disapeared on bactrim. Night palps are reduced. No herx. So far, it's great!

I have done Septra, which I think is actually another name for Bactrim. This was my 4th antibiotic. All of them helped (longterm) but I probably felt the best on Septra!

HOw does one know if they are sensitive to Sulfur drugs (Bactrim/septra)? About 2 years ago I took Septra for 2 weeks for diverticulitis and I didn't have problems. However, a few months later my LLMD put me on it for Lyme/Bart and I never felt well while on it (fluish and generally just not well) and I developed pretty horrible mouth sores and a burning in my chest. Was this a herx or a developing sensitivity? I've read that one can become sensitive after using once or twice. I'd like to take it again but I'm nervous. Also, the first time was Barctrum and the second was Septra...could there be a small difference in the two which is why I had a reaction to one versus the other?

I read in the newspaper a couple of years ago that a doctor said that people who were allergic to Bactrim the first time should try it agian, because they may not be allergic the second time.
That's what i'm doing, trying it for the second time, and so far, so good! after about 3 days! No little red skin bumps that i got the first time after 5 days. I very much would like to take this drug, because i've heard it's good for both lyme and Babesia, and CaliforniaLyme recommends it.
I have more energy than usual, ; don't know if it's the Bactrim or the iron pills or something else. I'm having quite a few eye pains, ; don't know if it's a herx, or just the usual eye pains.

Good article in San Francisco Chronicle's paper today talking about bacteria's that have become drug resistant.
One of the antibiotics they say is still doing a great job of killing off resistant bacteria was bactrim. Another one was doxycyline.
Not familiar with the third antibiotic. I only had two months with bactrim but will definitely go back on it after reading today's paper.

I've been on bactrim for 8 months with zith. Getting better slowly for bart/babs/lyme

I have taken almost everything out there for Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella.
First thing I took for Bart was Bactrim, and it has been the only drug that made me herx so bad I wished I was dead. (I also started diflucan at that time, but I doubt that is what caused the sickness, as I had already been really careful about candida.)

My LLMD says Bactrim has severe herxes. I am allergic; got meningitis from it after successfully using it for years.; It is a rare side effect.
However my LLMD questions whther it was acutally a herx from my undiagnosed lymme.

I am allergic to Bactrim. My lyme doc asked
what "reaction" I got from it? I got a rash and
headache from it. She said yep..that is an
allergy as opposed to a herx from it.

The first time I used this was not for lyme/tbi's,I wasn't dx'd with them. But for broncitis and a bad sinus infection.
I got a bad blistery rash, felt like throat was closing and had problems breathing..After a few days...Dr & druggist said it was allergic reaction. Was told to stop using it.
I react with blisters to neosporin cream too. Wondering now if it was a herx?

Dakotas... sounds like an allergy especially when the throat closes and you have trouble breathing.
