I'm sorry to post a similar subject, but I've been searching the web for the past 2 hours trying to confirm that I don't have bartonella, but so many of the symptoms are similar to lyme, I just don't know, and I kinda want to make sure.

From what my doctor told me, Bartonella is very difficult to get a positive reading on, so I may continue to test negative even though I have it.

So my question is: can someone please post a picture of the bumps and streaks associated with bartonella?

I have little pimple like things that I get on my skin on occasion (all over, not just my face and neck, like acne). With bartonella does this happen all over all the time? or is it occasionally here and there? Do the streaks look like red splotches? I get red splotches after taking a hot shower.

My LLMD doesn't think I have bartonella, but he told me to see if I felt depressed or suicidal that would be a sure sign. I don't feel suicidal, but I am a bit freaked out here.

If it does turn out that I have bart, can you treat Lyme, Babs, and Bart at the same time?

Your input is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I got positive bart from Fry Labs. Have you had that lab done? You can get streaks that look like stretch marks or pastule-type bumps. I've gotten both, but don't get them that often. I get the streaks more often. I've only noticed the bump actually ONCE, but it was big and on my back near my waist.

It is strange he said that being depressed or suicidal is a sure sign of Bartonella. I thought people with just Lyme in general would feel depressed and/or suicidal. This disease itself makes, no doubt, everyone feel that way at some point.

Also, I'm not sure if all three can be treated at the same time. But I'm being treated for Bart and Lyme at the same time, so at least those two can be.

Here's some pictures of bart rashes, bumps, etc. I found:

Thank you so much. My bumps don't look like that. I really do appreciate the help. Sometimes this disease has me crawling up walls.

I do get paranoid and start thinking I have everything under the sun. When I read the medical descriptions of different things, I often think, "I could have that".

Once again, thank you.

Oh, I forgot I was negative to Igenex Labs, but I haven't gotten the Fry Labs done. Are they better at Bart than Igenex?

Sending all the good energy that I can muster your way disturbedme.

Page 1 and 2 have some pictures of a few of what Dr. S refers to as the "dozens of rashes Bartonella can create."

There's some good information in the articles as well. Hope that helps!

Yes, I was negative on Igenex Labs as well for Bartonella and then had Bart done on Fry and it came back positive.

I've seen many people here finally get a positive for Bart through Fry. So I do think they are a very good place.

I think the blood smear is very good in seeing the bugs and whatnot.

Hi,

I developed both the red streaks and the papule associated with Bart. I also tested positive through Igenex.

My sister developed the exact same rash, my brother has it too. They both were positive for Lyme but their Igenex Bart tests came back negative.

There are a few pictures of the rash in this link:

Also here is another picture of a papule:

The Public Health Alert article someone posted above is a great article and also has a couple of photos.

I did not have an IgeneX positive test but after starting doxy, I got the long red streaks which I still have.

My LLMD said he could not treat babs and bart at the same time. We finish babs in 2 weeks and then go for bart all the while treating lyme as we go.

Hamdune,

After reading the bartonella article and looking at some of the pictures I believe I do in fact have Bartonella. I will try to get my LLMD to order the Fry labs test.

I am currently on doxy 400mg, 4tsp of mepron, 500mg zithromax, 4 art pills daily.

What is suggested for bart? How long is the treatment?

I have the WA-1 version of the Babesia and I know that it will take some time to get rid of, is bart also difficult?

Wow. I have those marks all over my one thigh. They appeared when I was 18, right after my Tylenol overdose.

They kept me in the psych ward, and even the nurse thought I was pretty normal overall to be on the psych ward and helped me write a letter. The shrink wouldn't let me out though until I admitted I was angry when I did it - so I lied and told him exactly what I knew he wanted to hear.

Fact is, I wasn't angry - I was depressed. I never was angry, and that was half of my problem.

More appeared on my breasts while I was pregnant, and I had postpartum depression after my daughter was born. I didn't smile for 6 months, but was okay after that for many years, except for my OCD.

I have trouble with Cipro though. I had to stop it again - it was killing me. Am I allergic?

h8lyme: I, too, got diagnosed with Bart from Fry labs (Igenex missed it). My symptoms are very similar to Disturbedme's.

I had papule/pimply-like things all over my back...but they disappeared after I started detoxing with cholestyramine
http://www.biotoxin.info
and that was BEFORE Bart treatment...so I think those were due to biotoxins.

On a separate note, Dr. B's guidelines recommends treating Bart 6-9 mos. They're are a few different options:
Levaquin
Cipro
Rifampin WITH zithro
Rifampin WITH doxy

Rifampin must be used with another abx...not medically inclined enough to explain...

I think Cipro Biaxin is in the mix somewhere, too. It's really up to you and your LLMD. Everyone has different reactions.

I'm personally on Rifampin & Zithro and that seems to be working for me.

Best Wishes,

Clarissa

Actually, my ankles looked like that baby's in 1989 - only about 100 times worse - I thought they were all flea bites.

Hi, h8lyme. I'm glad that article provided you some benefit. I, myself do have the stretch marks, red splotches, and even the "rare" loss of pigmentation he refers to in the article.

How long have you been on those meds? Have you seen any results? That seems like a decent regimen for what you've got going on. What Artemisinin are you using?

There have been various mentioned antibiotic combinations that I have come across - me personally, my LLMD has prescribed me Doxy, Zithro, and Heparin for my Bart. We shall see.

tetras good for bart, not enough tho. It also depended on which subsp. you got. Hence Dr B guide, 30 day min levaqu. I like that Idea.
