Last night I was hit with painful cramps in bladder. Since I woke this morning I haven't been able to stray to far from the bathroom as I feel like I have to pee every three minutes. I actually - (beware a little to much information ahead) - ****ed myself first thing this morning. So off I head to a GP (not my regular GP) after my morning IV of antibiotics, on the off chance I may have a bladder infection. GP says no, urine test is fine, no bladder infection. I said that's what I thought, probably the lyme affecting my nerves, and she gives me this look, like I'm a can short of the six-pack. Then she tells me if the peeing myself continues to go to the hospital to have to make sure the nerves to my bladder are working right. Yeah right, so I can have a bunch of other doctors look at me like I'm crazy when I talk about my lyme. Lyme is why my nerves don't work right!!

So has anyone else experienced UTI like symptoms or had problems holding it in??

there is a bladder disease called interstitial cystitis, which does cause UTI like bladder symptoms but the urine culture is negative. A few of us on this board have it.

Did your dr send the urine out to the lab to be cultured?

No, urine wasn't sent to the lab. Just an in-clinic test done.

tracy, i feel for you!@

i've been going thru urine incontinence 24/7 since my hip replacement surgery 3-26-07 until THREE DAYS AGO!.

i was going thru so many depends/poise pads, it was unbelievable. surgeon said they didn't know anything that something had happend to make me go full-time even in my sleep without any cognizance of it happening!

i went thru urodynamics study last fall; said it was BLADDER SPASM, and put me on ENABLEX RX MED! i thought they would say interstitial cytosis too, but they didn't?!

wow, did that make a difference immediately!

also went to PT, and they showed me how to do KEGEL pelvic exercises correctly and to do them daily.

well, 3 days ago, i went all day without wetting' i made toilet each time! Thank you God. I've had a few misses; can't get my pants down fast enough! lol [lol]

so ask your dr. about getting ENABLEX rx meds; make sure you have no side effects w/other meds. [Wink]

I was in the Depends aisle this morning but I could get myself to buy any. I'm 29 - I shouldn't need diapers already. I just wear a sanitary pad until just in case it happens again.

I have this also. It was really bad when on rifampin.

Some meds can cause this so be sure to check with your LLMD.

I got incontinence from Lyme and IC interstitial cystitis from Bartonella!!! Both gone with treatment- both sucked!!! I hope your problems go away soon- it makes it so hard to LIVE!!!

Betty, I'm SOOOO glad the enablex is working for you!! Hooray!! Is it for bladder spasms??

tad, It could also be the Lyme camping out in your bladder and once you go through treatment, the problems will go away.

I have IC and it's MUCH better since treatment for Lyme. Not as much pain. Thank goodness I never had incontinence. PTL!

Thanks everyone for your replies. It's good to know that this is probably lyme related. I've had the bladder pain in the past, just not the other problems.
