Hello,
Curious as to how many who have this/had this had a high fever at the onset of their illness (or if they remember)? My LLMD was saying this presentation is typical of co-infection of babesia.

Yes! And other symptoms, such as thrush, pain, severe lung symptoms/shortness of breath/difficulty breathing and more.

I actually went to the ER. Was told "You have a virus, goodbye!"

Over 7 years ago I had a fever of 103 for 10 days, drenching sweats, chills, fried brain, weekness, mailise,...etc. It took me year to recover. It returned again 4 years later, recovered in a year, enjoyed 11 months remission, and it returned again! Still in a relapse after 18 months.

Does this sound like babs?

I believe i have babs even though I tested negative for it and never had a high fever. (The only time I ran a fever OF 102 was when I was 12 and got the flu but was fine after a 2 day hospital stay.) I am almost pretty sure that this is not when I contracted the disease because I was 100% healthy afterwards and only started having symptoms whe I was 18.

Had high fever with bulls eye rash then 5 months later had another high fever to the point I actually lost 3 days - cant remember one of them and my mom actually carried me out of my boyfriends house to take me home was so sick. Chalked it off as the flu - may have been, may not have been. Test negative for all co's Igenex.

very interesting responses! anyone else?

Also interesting that nothing comes up at Igenex...isn't the FISH test supposed to be able to see all strains of babesia? Perhaps that should be done?

Ht CD

Yep I did --

After you have babs for a while it drops
your body temp to 93 to 97 F --

All of my tests came back -Negative -
at Igenx --

Zero doubt I have both Lyme and Babs-
I also saw the Bulls eye on my leg -

From what I have seen about 70% of folks
have Both --Jay--

Granddaughter went to Dr. J. He tested her for everything........says no Babs, but she gets 104. and above fevers for no reason........then usually

vomits for days after. Did it from when she was an infant. Would take her to the hospital in the middle of the night.......she NEVER cried.

Don't babies usually cry with an ear infection? At the ER they always said ear infection. And treated her, with Zithromax.........

Dr. J and Dr. H said they were treating her for Lyme and didn't even know it! Her regular pediatrician said ear infections too. Dumb Ducks anyway.

My point being, she doesn't have babs, just Lyme from her Mom.......so I think you can get a fever from Lyme too.

Hugs,

After reading this stuff. I worry I have babs too, AND bart. OMG, I cant handle all this!! No wonder I am sleeping cont now after 2mo tx. Maybe babs taking over? I did have the air hunger in acute phase...but I had the bart node (purple wart sore) so I figured bart...but now I read and I managed to stir up a low grade fever today....getting scary out there.

Yes, starting a week or so after the tick bite, as the bulls-eye rash was emerging; high fever (103 or so with headaches) for days until started amoxicillin (was prescribed 10 days of low-dose amoxy).

4 years ago sudden onset extreme high relapsing fevers (106) drenching sweats, got to point I could barely stand to pee...blood platelet count dropped way low..short reprieve then again for almost 3 weeks...had what looked like a spider bite, no bulls-eye, just before it all started

finally tested ELISA positive for lyme and started amox for 8 weeks...thought I had recovered until last spring, when everything came crashing down...tested positive for babesia.

I was healthy and extremely active (competitive distance runner) before initial infection, and had a good 3 plus years in between...but now I am a mess.

I also had 104 fevers for days in the beginning, but I have never connected that with Babesiosis.
I believe they were either from

Ehrlichiosis, wihch is associated with high fever at onset,

or from an unknown virus coinfection with which that commonly happens (TBE family viruses often have high fever and then become slow viruses in your system)...

Someone with Ehrlichia once told me that their only

symptom was a very high fever.

I had air hunger every night and 105.5 fever that cont for about 5 weeks!!! I thought bart, and still do, but maybe babes too? Any idea? I have the purple wart in my ear channel so bart too! I treated bart for 4 weeks now and 1.5mo on lyme abx and feel still sicker now!! So, maybe time for marlone or mepron. Ick.

Yes, I had very high fever at beginning- 103- the highest I ever remember. I was one sick pup. I had babesiosis, too, but not sure what was from lyme and what was from babs. In fact, I had Ehrlichia as well, so that could have caused the fever too... The sweating was probably from babs, but any monstrous fever can cause that to some estent, at times.
Ehrlichia succumbs to doxy easier than lyme does, so including doxy in the abx coctail will usually take care of that, but when the diseases are combined they are all much nastier.
