Since I started treatment for Lyme and Babs, my migraines got 90% better but now I am suffering with jaw/facial nerve pain that feels like a toothache ALL THE TIME...
Can anyone that has developed this neuro symptom, please respond. I am just in so much pain.
Neurontin has been increased and has helped somewhat.
I've seen a dentist and this was ruled out.
Also, I don't have any numbness or palsy symptoms.
My LLMD has had only one client with this symptom whom got better with IV antibiotic treatment.
Thanks in advance,
Lisa

Yeah when my wife herxed her teeth hurt bad and just through tretment her teeth were very sensitive I never had that happen in all the years I have been treated untill i went on minocin. Then my teeth hurt for over 2 months but not bad now. LLMD sez that the reason is all of the nerves centered in your face he used big words but basicaly thats why spirochetes like the sheathing on the nerves it myline also in joints and connective tissue.

Lacinating pain of the trigeminal nerve (Cranial V)
Can be one of the worst pains imaginable.
I know it is associated with Lyme, but when in the absence of Lyme
Sometimes anti-seizure medicines (tegretol) can actually help with the pain part.
I hope this subsides for you soon.
Hugs,
Geneal

Ive had this for years, and it is one of the symptoms that just does not want to go away. I couldnt do neurontin as it made me DEATHLY, deathly ill.
What worked for me was Augmentin. It was an antibiotic I had never tried, so I gave it a shot- and it worked very well. I did start it by doing two weeks of high dose rifampin, then switching right into augmentin.
Ive also used trigger point therapy as well.
As of now, I don't really have this symptom anymore KNOCK ON WOOD, and it hung around for 2-3 years.
Now, its replaced with extreme fatigue. But I do believe it was the Augmentin that worked.

I had pain in my teeth, lower jaw for years. It went away when my CFS doc (unaware I had LYme) had me alternate:
zith 3 days per week for 6 weeks; amoxi 10 days per month. I did 4 courses of each and the pain ceased.
also, botox for migraines used to help (not a cure)
good luck!

THIS has been one of my biggest, ongoers but I do have tingling, twitching and had temporary bells palsy as well. But the jaw issue was so bad for so long they couldnt find anything besides TMJ - then offered exploratory surgery.
I said go for it! They did! it hurt! LOL LOL
this was all post dx mind you but I kept insisting that they biobsy anything just in case, dont knwo why I knew to say that but i did.
Well....
They didnt listen.
They found cavitation of my lower jaw bone. Removed 2 "cystic formations" but did NO bioposies of ANYTHING!!!!!!
made me soooo mad.....
that was all in fall of 2004....still have same issues but they have been lessening a little over time....
