I'm a little freaked out right now. After taking a few weeks of Flagyl and herxing pretty bad, I noticed a few days ago that I was feeling a bit tingly in my foot and finger on my left side. I just read some side effect info on Flaygl and it said to stop immediately if you experience some neropathy. Right now I'm getting really numb all over! Does anyone know if this a permenent condition???

Flagyl can cause permanent damage!

My llmd pulled me off this med when my neuropathy increased.

You should call your llmd in the morning and see if he wants you to continue taking this med.

Hi Lori,

Neuropathy is a fairly common side effect of Flagyl. For most patients, it fades away after discontinuation of the Rx.

For me and some others who already had a bad case of neuropathy...it was difficult to know if the Flagyl was causing an increase or not. So, it wasn't worth stopping the med.

You may want to hold off until you can speak with your doc about this, and the possibility of trying Tini instead which is reported to not have the same side effects.

My best,
Melanie

i've read about a lot of side effects with flagyl but thanks the heavens, i didn't have any.

it was the only drug that helped my facial twitching and tinnitus.

but the doc would only give me 2 weeks worth....

Melanie,

I am not going to take the Flagyl tonight and I will call my DR. tomorrow. Thank you for your reassurance.

Randibear,

I've already had some signifigant improvement in my head and sinus with the Flagyl. I've been on it for 3 weeks now. Probably the hardest 3 weeks of my 13 months of abx. I will be happy to stop now!
