Hi- years ago I got tested to see if I had the gene for celiac disease and this was the result:

Gene Test for Gluten Sensitivity
Molecular analysis: HLA-DQB1*0301, 0301

Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 3,3 (Subtype, 7,7)

Is there any way I can see how this gene would affect my lyme disease- because I had the vaccine in 1999/2000 and I also wanted to know how my body handles detoxing. I did not get my lyme symptoms after the vaccine, so my LLMD thinks it is irrelevant and I got bit. Just wondering if this would tell me anything or do I need to get more genetic testing?

thanks, Maureen

I can't tell from the test results what it means, but it sounds like from what you have written, that you have the gene for gluten sensitivity or intolerance.

Most of the people with LD have to stay on an anti-candida diet anyway, which would preclude eating wheat or other grains.

So if you have already made the transition, then this should only help, not hinder your progress.

The gene test to determine body's ability to detox would probably be a separate issue.

Maybe someone else has some thoughts on this as well...

thanks, i guess what i was trying to do was compare this gene to see how it relates to the other genes mentioned for lyme disease (HLA-DR4, HLA-DR3 - i think?) but now thinking about it, probably can't really compare, just have to get tested for those other specific genes. i don't know what i was thinking when i posted this

Relevant to Lyme disease and HLA-DQ 3, from what I have read, you will be less likely to get sarcoidosis than other tissue types which is good because Lyme is associated with that so you would otherwise have a raised risk factor!!!
That's the only specific Lyme relevant finding I can think of off the top of my head-

ANd you have a protective effect with gastric cancer as well!!! You shouldn't get it!!!
God, gene stuff is great. I wish I time to look stuff up right now but I can't. Sorry-

thanks Sarah, but is this also the gene that means my body does not eliminate toxins properly? hmmm....

Nope Maureen- it is NOT! THAT is HLA D _R_ 3

That is D __R__ not DQ!!!
You are DQ!!! Different type completely!!!

Totally different!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like type A blood versus type O-
totally different!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks Sarah,

okay, this is going to be a completely stupid question, but then I still need to get tested for the HLA DR4 and HLA DR3 right? I mean, I can't assume that because I have that gene above, that I don't have those other genes.....because they are totally unrelated, right?

thanks, Maureen
