What exactly is this used to test for? Is it for hormonal imbalances?
My LLMD ordered it from LabCorp for me to do (which I did yesterday). My life is SO glamourous!
I'll find out in a month during my next phone consult but I was wondering if anyone had experience with this test?

Hey...fellow Mainer -- Could be heavy metals, adrenal issues, etc? What did the lab sheet say? I've done a couple of these...once was also for porphyria.

I did so many tests at LabCorp for Fry and Igenex that they forgot to give me my "pee carton" to take home.
So when my Mom when to get her labs done, they gave it to her and said they had forgotten that they had a prescription for this test, too.
I'm so out of it that I didn't even care...I just did it. Now that I'm coming out of a Bart/herx/fog, I started to become curious.
Whatever it is, I'd rather my LLMD be thorough...I'll let you know when I find out! Maybe my Mom has copies of the script...I'll ask her in the am.

I am having a 24 hour urine to check Protein and Creatnine levels. These are kidey values.

If it's through LabCorp and you didn't have to take any medications before the test, there is a good chance it is testing amino acid levels.
Heavy metal tests usually have the patient take a chelating agent first to pull out the metals, and I don't know if Labcorp runs that test.
Only other 24 hour test I've done is iodine levels, but that requires taking iodine at the beginning and, again, not sure if a doctor would use Labcorp.

yes, that's what I do too; if they find PROTEIN in urine it means EARLY KIDNEY DAMAGE.
mine can be from LYME AND DIABETES 2 !! I've had protein in urine for years now; newest PCP finally gave me that diagnosis late last year.

Hi Clarissa,
If you think this is glamorous, just wait to you lug that lovely container back to the lab.
Look at the lab sheet that you'll turn in with the jug. See what items are checked. I always make a copy of the lab sheet, then take the sheet to the follow-up appointmnet to be sure they did all the tests and to be sure I receive all the results.
My daughter's 24 hour urine test was for heavy metals.
I posted about it in Jan. or Feb. 07...I think. I don't remember the exact things tested for, but I think it was for chromium, arsenic, and 2 others.

I had the 24 hr test for hormone levels. You only have to return a cupful of the goodies, not the whole jug. [at least that's what my instructions were]
