I noticed my headaches got MUCH better about 2 weeks into my mino. Before that I was on 800mgs of Motion 3 X a day with no benefit.

This has to be from Lyme right? How else would migraines go away with antibiotics?

I even had a few days of feeling like my old self. I could type, think, speak clearly it was great, though it only lasted a short time.

I would get daily headaches and would always get menstrual migraines. Ocular ones around my left eye.

This month my daily headaches got better. Then when I got my period, I only had an ocular margarine for a day or so as opposed to the entire time.

My question is, do Lyme symptoms flare at the time of menses?

That is normal to flare at the time of menses.

Yes, yes and yes.

Us lucky women. [Smile]

Even worse is when your Lyme cycle and your monthly coincide.

Yikes! [Eek!]

Yes. Hormonal changes exacerbate Lyme symptoms.

Yes and it totally sucks. Every month it takes me off guard and I think I'm relaspsing backwards, then I get my period and the world can hear my sigh of relief.

ABSOLUTELY! This just started happening to me about six months ago. All my symptoms become a lot more pronounced. I even develop new symptoms around that lovely time of the month. Bummer!

most definately!! Ive noticed this predominately in the last 4 months or so. Or maybe im just paying more attention. Its aweful. i get all paranoid at my job and with my boyfriend and i feel depressed and achey and "out-of-it". My body definately feels it more right before my period.

gawd aweful!

Does anyone know why this happens?

Oh yes, for me the worst is the fatigue!

Hang in there!

YES!

And I also think my Lyme cycle and menstrual cycle coincide.

I think when I ovulate it is even worse as well.

Before I knew I had Lyme I was convinced it was hormonal because of this but that of course didn't explain the Neuro symptoms.

Yes, ovulation is horrific, too!

Do you think we need to discuss with our LLMD's? Mine mentioned that after age 30, women's progesterone levels go down (the "feel good" hormone).

It always lowers during the 2 weeks before the actual period. He started me on prometrium pills at night.

Both times I took it, my eyes swelled up like Rocky Balboa after a match. No thanks. Maybe it was the peanut oil in the pill? He wasn't sure but assumed I was just too inflamed in general and that we should address further along in treatment.

I think some form of progesterone is something to consider for women over 30. I'm going to inquire about topical creams as I choose not to be grouchy/sad/tired AND ugly. [cussing]

Anyone have experience with progesterone?

Ooh, yes indeed.

Menstrual migraines are particular doozies.

Find it helpful to avoid fluorescent lighting right before my period, since it always brings on a migraine quick.

Used to think PMS was just a state of mind...Boy was I wrong! Now I have all the emotional stuff plus inflammation plus!

Makes menopause seem like The Promised Land! [Big Grin]

ovulation is the worst for me, the ovulation discharge feels like acid, and all my muscles are tighter during that time.

my best week, is the week before my period. im almost normal during that week.

It's an inflammatory condition,
just like lyme.
So symptoms flare up excessively.
