Okay, I am beginning to get very worried. I have been on the full cowden for at least four months and I feel nothing- except maybe worse (not a herx, just worse). Anyone else feel this way? Please help Posted by sixgoofykids (Member # 11141) on :
Have you been treated for coinfections? I would suspect coinfections if Cowden is doing nothing at all for you.

I did get tested multiple times for all coinfections... of course I tested (-) for everything. And, two days ago I woke up with a droopy eye-lid. I was so scared. That symptom only lasted for no more than 30minutes but still very scary. I have a telephone consult with my LLMD tomorrow am. I wonder if he is going to take me off of the coweden and proceed with abx. The only abx I am on is bicillin IM for the past 5-6 months. I am only getting worse. I wonder if there is anything else going on with me. ??

My coinfections tests came out negative, too, but I was treated based on symptoms. I was treated for babesia from day 1, then was treated for bart months later. I got better after bart treatment.
IM bicillin is a very good drug. I would think that with the Full Cowden would be doing something if it were "just" Lyme.

Yeah- I've been treated for the past four years on and off for lyme and bartonella. I did not even develop the night sweats until AFTER I started the cowden. I don't know what to think. I really hope I will not have to go back to IV's.

Maryland....If you haven't been treated for babesia....go there next! It's worth a try!

I tested negative on the western blot, and one other test. I was positive on the CD-57, but that was just conformational, after we decided that I had lyme, based on my symptoms. I have bartonella and Babesia. I have taken Abx, but I don't know the other med

I herxed alot from the Cumunda. I'm only up to 5 drops, 2X a day for about a month now. I'm trying to get up to 30 but it was too much. I'm going slowly. I definitely felt it, though.
Everyone is unique & responds differently to the various protocols. Just keep trying supplements or drugs until you find something that works.

As I understand it, Cowden believes one has to be detoxing properly for any of the other products to work. So maybe you need to build up your detox pathways before expecting anything from the bug-killers.
I herxed initially on Cumanda but then I think I built up a resistance to it. So maybe that's possible and maybe you just need to take a long break from it and try something different.

I think you are suppose to rotate the cumanda with Quina after 3 months

I agree with Maryland.
I have been on the Cowden for almost 5 months and now I have a positive ANA titer.
What the heck?

In my local group the last person who went on Cowden showed up literally crying on my doorstep because she was getting worse and worse- and she was the one I had honestly thought was being helped by it!!!!!!!!!
Herbs may help SOME people but they do not help all and I have never seen anyone get anywhere near full remission with them as I have seen with abx time & time again. This is my experience of volunteering for 365 days a year for the past 8 years to be available for Lyme patients in Santa Cruz County, California.
In absolute honesty and sincerity, Sarah Olson

Today I spoke to my LLMD who offically has taken me off of the cowden. Instead, I will be taking levequin and another abx in the doxy family. I have only been geeting worse as evidenced by experiencing night sweats for the first time and slight facial drooping in the morning for the first time.
I still have a ton of nutramedix herbs. I'll just hold onto the herbs- maybe I will start them again at a later date. Until then I will resume treatment with po abx. oh well.

All I have to say is I wish that I stuck with the Cats claw years ago.

Have you been checked for heavy metals?
Posted by maryland (Member # 10345) on :
YES, I was checked for heavy metals a few months ago. My results were shocking. My mercury was off the chart and my led was not that far behind. I have been on a ton of chelation treatments.

From what I've researched, the Cowden protocol works best as an adjunct protocol with ABX, or as a follow up after the ABX are stopped. It supposedly is helpful with preventing relapses. It is not strong enough to tackle a full blown case on its own.
It purportedly is not helpful with babesia. However, a new tincture Enula is now available that supposedly tackles it. How well, we have no idea yet. Some are taking it with ABX.
