I got a brain spect done and it states the following:

"There do appear to be suspicious scattered focal areas of decreased cortical perfusion in the bilateral frontal lobes. Focus in the postereior left occipital lobe, and the right temporal lob, posterior right occipital lobe and the left parietal lobe."

"Impression"

"Limited exam but suspicious for cortical perfusion deficiencies as can be seen with lyme disease."

Can anyone tell me what this means in normal words? It has confused me because its all greek to me. Any help on the subject would help ease my mind.

Decreased blood flow due to inflammation. Don't worry--this

condition (which virtually all Lyme sufferers have), is reversible, and

now perhaps you'll have an easier

time getting stuff covered.

Hi where did you have your SPECT performed?

Talk to your doctor about what this means to exercise.

You may need to be very careful to avoid aerobic exercise with hypoperfusion. Just ask your doctor.

The Nightingale Foundation in Canada - over 10 years ago - did a wonderful study of PET or SPECTS with CFS population.

www.nightingale.ca Last I checked, that was not on the web. I have a physical copy from an old CFIDS chronicle.

They found that aerobic exercise - 12 - 24 - 48 hours afterward showed changes such as hypoperfusion.

That could explain part of post-exercise exhaustion.

This test gave you good information as to how to best take care of yourself and that you need treatment. I am amazed they had the connection to lyme.

Hopefully, that is a wining lotto ticket to treatment and a chance for improvement with the guidance of a good LLMD.

Good luck.

adamm - thank you for your information, could this also be what is causing the pressure behind my eyes and the bad floaters? Its too bad that I was laid off from work, and lost my health insurance.

aklnwlf - It was done at the hospital in Tallahassee Florida

Keebler - that would expain why I get so tired after cleaning the house, it feels like a 10 mile run.

Will it cause long term damamge?
