Not sure if any of you remember me from my past posts, but I saw Dr. S. H and I had borderline lyme, then took the 30/31 confirmation test and it was negative, so I stopped taking the amoxy. He just wants me to test the baby when she is born just to make sure she has no lyme.
I just have a few questions.
If you get a tick bite, does the tick stay in you or does it fall off. I only ask this because today I noticed something very tiny by my breast area that I kind had to with my nail scratch it off, I am wondering could this be the tick from a year almost 2 years ago or am I bigtime scarying myself??

Once a tick feeds and is engorged, it drops off. There is no way that is a tick from 2 years ago.
But, is there any chance it's a new tick? Can you look at it under a magnifying glass?

What is a 30/31 confirmation test? I have never heard of an effective blood test for lyme yet.
And, it is not clear what your doctor means by 'borderline lyme.' It seems that either a person has the exposure and bacteria, or not. It could mean that symptoms are borderline perhaps; some people developed lyme symptoms years after an infecting tick bite.
Perhaps you would want to discuss those questions with an llmd.
About your question -- it seems impossible that a tick would hang around for over a year. Could it be a new tick?

Hey Marline!
Glad to hear Dr H is taking care of you (and by the way, folks, her doctor is without question an ILADs LLMD, and one of the best!). I'd be interested in hearing what the 30/31 test is too.
I agree with the other posters...could it be a new tick? Or perhaps just a scab or skin tag? Pregnancy does such wonderful things to our skin as I recall.

I agree with CD57, this doc knows what he is talking about. He is very qualified in lyme testing issues.
Don't count on this for sure but I think the 30/31 test has to do with cross reactions to bands 30/31 on the WB.
Borderline may mean that a diagnosis of lyme is not clear utilizing a combination of clinical and test results.
I personally trust Dr. H, he is very smart and on the ball. We are patients, not doctors and we are not qualified to diagnose lyme disease. AND no one is qualified to diagnose lyme disease over the internet.
That said, if it were me and I had doubts, I'd consult with another LLMD just to be sure. There are several in the area.

These are my results from the first time, which he said is borderline.

And this is the 30/31 confirmation test results which was about a month later...

I did see a LLMD, he suggested I take amoxy for 10 days because my case was borderline, the took the 30/31 test which he said was negative, so to stop taking the amoxy all together. Now he wants me to have the baby checked at birth, the placenta, cord and cord segment.
I don't think I was bite again, I think it was just a skin tag probably from the pregnancy. I just want to know, hopefully my baby does not have it, but let's say in the case that I do, if I breastfeed her then she will too, so what am I supposed to do?

Those results don't look "borderline" to me. They just look like lyme, period.
I've heard that any woman who has had lyme before (whether they don't feel they have it now, or do), should always take amoxy the entire time during pregnancy just to keep the lyme at bay, away from fetus, etc. At least that's what I read in "Coping with Lyme Disease".

I heard the same thing as diturbedme. I've also heard that having yeast in your sytstem from antibiotics can be bad for baby.
Could be your doc thinks baby's chances are better for not getting lyme than exposure to abx and candida.

I know the LLMD personally, very well for that matter. He knows what he is talking about, have no doubts. If he doens't want you on antibiotics, he has his reasons. Listen to him, he is one of the best and he is smart!!
IMO I wouldn't breast feed, just to be safe!! I know many children that were not breastfed and they are healty, normal children. I just woudln't take that chance just in case you do have Lyme or any co infections.
You wouldn't want to infect your baby and the pros to breast feeding just wouldn't be worth even a slight chance if you have Lyme. Thats just my opinion, you have to do what you feel in your heart is best.
But in all honesty, do listen to Dr. H, he knows what he is doing. But like another poster said, if you have doubts, get a second opinion, there is more than one LLMD in CA.
Dr. H would probably even reccomend one to you, that man doesn't have God written on his head, and his ego isn't so big he would even get insulted.
