I have had ringing since my lyme began, but now after beginning zith (added to bicillin), my ears thump more, and I can hear myself talk. I feel soooooo much pressure on my ears, like I am on an airplane. No fluid coming out, some pain here and there, but this intensified 2 days ago when I began my monthly herx. It is still going on. My sister checked my ears, said no infection there.
So, should I chill out, see an ent to maybe determing if I need tubes to drain whatever, or to fix the pressure problem (If we can), ?
I am on 750 mg of zith, with 1.2 million units of bicillin 3x weeek. ear ringing has gotten worse, just as my herx began too. My hearing, Thank God, is fine. what do you guys think?

All I know is it is very common to have ear ringing and ear pain while on Zith. I am on it as well and I always have ear pain in my left ear, but it's not bad enough to quit it.

I am sure others will respond with more details, but I personally would not rush out to yet another doc, when Zith. commonly causes this..

Hang in there!

I don't know if you want to listen to me because I WAS NOT told to do this by a doctor but it helps.

Put a couple drops of peroxide in your ear, let it fizzle and do its thing for a minute or two.

Then rinse the ear out with warm water until you know its cleared out. You can tell.

I take an ibufrofen too in case its inflammation.

Don't do this daily, its probably not good long term. But it totally works for me.
