Like, whenever I move my head after having kept it still for
some time. Is this more likely the result of brain or connective
tissue inflammation?

My guess would be connective tissue.
Mine is much better with babesia treatment.

Another snap, crackle, popper!
Join the club!
My guess it is your ligaments, tendons and other connective tissue.
Another bowl of Rice Krispies dear?

I have this too... all day long... head and neck. I don't even have to move it just pops and cracks- it does't hurt or anything but is a constant reminder that something is going on with my body.

same here, can't even imagine how many times I hear cracks during the day as I'm so used to it now but I'd venture to guess it happens every 5 minutes, at least at times... I can frequently make it happen without even moving or turning if my neck and head have been in the same position for a bit of time...
I don't recall it really happening my first few years of daily headaches from 2002 through 2005, at least not at the frequency it happens currently, but it's been this way for a while now, even with my headaches reduced a bit overall the past couple years...
