I am just wanting a few opinions here. I guess to help me sleep better.
We have a LLMD appointment this summer with Dr. C(I teach and am out of sick days). I understand that she may have Lyme and that is why we have the appointment, but I just want some insight.
So long story short...when I was 8 months pregnant I visited my husbands family right outside of Lyme, CT. While there I developed what looked like a heat rash on my big pregnant belly.
This was odd because CT isn't nearly as hot as my home town. Fast forward one week and I have a classic bullseye rash and diagnosed with Lyme disease.
I was treated for 30 days 1500 mg of ammoxil as soon as we saw the rash. We didn't even wait for blood tests.
My daughter was born healthy but the rash on my belly appeared on the back of her neck when she was a few weeks old.
The rash appears when she is hot. It is a light pink raised rash that does not seem to itch or bother her.
Two years later she carries the same rash on her back, neck, and scalp during the summer months. It is very much the same as mine and from years past.
It was 83 today and the rash is back. We have seen lots of doctors and they all say her sweat glands are causing the heat rash.
Other than this rash she is relatively symptom free from Lyme, but do you think this is Lyme?

If it were me, I would definitely keep the summer appointment with the LLMD. As to whether it could be early symptoms of Lyme; quite frankly, who knows for sure?
Although testing for Lyme has its flaws, you could get lucky in the sense that if your daughter has positive results you will at least feel confident that she experienced EXPOSURE to the disease.
This may help with the decision making process. Of course, if her tests are negative, you may be back at square one.
Does your LLMD see pediatric patients frequently? If so, hopefully he/she will be able to provide judicious advice about treating versus not treating with such limited symptoms.
At the same time, I can completely understand why you would want a consult given the history of the situation. A consult won't hurt and maybe will help.
In fact, as I'm thinking about it more, it is probably worth consulting with an LLMD just so that you will have baseline information about your daughter's functioning... in case it were to worsen over time.
Good luck making this decision. I'm sure it's not an easy one.

I agree with hokie. Keep the appointment.
It could be Lyme related.. but we can't tell for sure. But I wouldn't write it off as not. Stay on it till you have answers.. ok?

take photos of this rash and use coins or $1.00 bill or ruler to show the size of this rash.

What you are describing sounds to me more like a birthmark, rather than a rash. But I'm not a doctor...
My children all had the little "stork bite birthmark" in some shape of form. They are actually fairly common from what I understand.
We have had concerns with my recent Lyme diagnosis that perhaps I have had it longer and our children may have it. However, just yesterday we got the western blot results for one of my daughters and it was a full negative, thank God.
She has a little patch of skin on her forehead that, when she was born it looked like a rash...However I was told it was a birthmark.
It's not always noticable.
Our other children have the rash at the base of their necks.
Either way....good luck getting the answers you are looking for...
