I am new here and I have a few questions regarding my recent labwork.
I have slightly elevated bilirubin levels, high thyroid stimulating hormone levels, Epstein-Barr Viral antigen levels that are high, and my Lyme test looks like this:
2.67 on Lyme IgG/IgM Ab and present on bands 56,58, 41,39,23,18
My doctor, in his infinite wisdom, is treating me only with synthroid for the thyroid issue(50 mcg per day). No treatment for Lyme based on the fact that I was diagnosed with Lyme last summer, treated with 3 weeks of doxycycline, and now he says that the antigens will always be present .
I do have an appointment with Dr P in CT at the end of March, but I am concerned about taking the synthroid now. Oh, I am also taking small doses of tetracycline(250 mg 3 times a day). Out of desperation, I put myself on it, having a portion of an old prescription left.
I cannot find any drug interaction listings that cause me to be worried, but I am hoping that with all of the experience we have on these boards, someone might know something I do not.

I take armour thyroid....I am not sure about any interactions, but
Watch old Rx's. If they are out of date, they can do more harm than good.
Do you still have symptoms?
All I could think when you wrote your doctor's response was "What an idiot!"
Is it possible to get those test results....go to a walk in clinic
And get a Rx for doxy or something else.
Just a thought to get you to the end of March.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
Geneal

As Geneal said, tetras can do more harm than good if they're outdated. Good idea on getting a copy of the labs.
I take synthroid with Minocycline. You can always ask a pharmacist about interactions.

Well, I actually had done an end run around my doctor, and went and got my lab results without him knowing.
I knew I would need them for Dr P. However, I never thought about taking them to walk in clinic.
The tetracycline script is only a couple of months old, but I will definitely try the clinic nearby, and see what they might do .
My fortune is that I am not alone in dealing with this, as someone dear to me also has Lyme and a probable coinfection. It has really helped a lot to be armed wih information in advance.
Websites like this one are making a difference in the length of time it takes to get properly treated
I am symptomatic at this time, with joint pain, night sweats, Lyme fog(which has now become a running joke for me at my place of work),air hunger, tinnitus, and numbness in my extremities and face.
All of these have gotten more severe recently, which prompted my doctor's visit

welcome to the board! thanks for all the detailed info as well.
you've got to get more than 3 weeks of antibiotics/ABX! it's crucial IF you have just been bitten or had a bulls-eye rash. We recommend 3 months at least; 2 months of showing NO SYMPTOMS at all before you STOP taking abx!
glad you found us; hope you got my newbie package, and if you did NOT; please send me a PRIVATE MESSAGE/PM ... it's 2 people standing together, and ask me to send it to you!
it includes TREEPATROL'S NEWBIE ARCHIVE of over 1000 sites of good lyme info! Posted by timaca (Member # 6911) on :
Since you also have high EBV antibody titers, you should get further checked out for viruses. There is a thread here at Lymenet entitled "Viral Testing".
