Once treated, is Lyme gone or does it come back?

If you leave even one in your system then can't that one reproduce and your back to where you started?

i guess in theory. My doctor does an antibiotic challenge. So once I feel 100% he will switch antibiotics and see if I "flare" or "herx". If the symptoms return to any degree that we haven't finished killing the lyme.

Until there is a reliable test, there is no way to know for sure. Since it is believe that lyme crosses the blood/brain barrier it may hide in the brain too. There is a neuropathologist that found lyme in the brains of alzheimer patients.

If we can get the medical industry to pay attention I think there is huge amount to learn about these vector born illnesses.

That was really well said.

We thought my lyme was gone. Although looking back I was not working with an LLMD and probably wasn't on antibiotics long enough.

However, I had no symptoms of Lyme until almost three years later the left side of my face starting twitching. Days later it was numb and progressed to loss of short term memory and other brain issues in a matter of a few weeks.

My LLMD ordered every test under the sun including a brain MRI with contrast to rule out anything that may be going on. I didn't want to miss something significant that may have not been the Lyme.

The Lyme had made a strong hold in my brain and was more or less dormant. It was a stressful situation that caused the symptoms of what was going on to appear. I am glad they did.

I would like to think that once you rid yourself of all Lyme then it is gone. But what if that one little Lyme bug is up in your brain like what happened to me? I guess you have to be in tune with your body.

It's pretty hard to eradicate.

My LLMD does a challenge with tons of flagyl to make sure it's gone before totally going off abx.

If you don't herx on a couple thousand mg of flagyl then you're good to go.

Ditto. Until we have better tests and some studies

have been done on our protocols, we're never going to know.
