Has anybody out there developed lots of oral lesions.. bumps.. cysts.. on inner lip, floor of mouth, gums, throat, etc?
I've got 30-40 of them in varying sizes/locations. Started off w/just a few on inner lip, now they're everywhere... and they seem to be doubling by the stinking minute!
Mostly not visible, but can be felt.
I've believed.. or at least hoped.. them to be "viral" from the start, and Lyme certainly could be the answer, but they've been spreading at an alarming rate.
And the shocked, bug eyed look I saw on my dentist's face as she was looking and feeling her way around in there was more than a bit unsettling and really hasn't helped! LOL!
Obviously I need a definitive answer (or an almost more definitive "no answer") and we'll hopefully have that next week, but, I've not found any complaints of similar conditions from other lymies, which, I have to say, is starting to worry me!

neil,
my non-diagnosed lyme hubby used to get these bad in his mouth; no one could figure out why.
they hurt him so bad, and he could NOT be understood due to their locations! he didn't have amount you had; less than 4-6; horrible.

Hi Neil. ONe of my three lyme daughters gets these all the time, all over her mouth. It is very unsettling, and hurt her really badly. She has been tested for other autoimmune things that have this as a symptom, but comes up negative. The only explanation is her chronic lyme disease.
Swish your mouth out with salt water frequently during the day. The dentist should also be able to give you a numbing gell to help with pain. And then there is advil too. And have you tried silver nitrate treatment at the dentent's office? I don't know if that would help.
My hubby gets them and always has.
I feel so sorry you have these, as I watch my daughter and my lymie husband really suffer with these.
Although I also have lyme, as well as my other two daughters, we do not get them. Go figure.

They can be viral....or fungal (yeast).
You might want to get tested for both. For viral testing, see thread here at Lymenet on "viral testing" in medical questions forum.

At the same time I started getting sick, I noticed a set of white bumps on the inside of my lower lips. These were characterized by my derm as 'old lady bumps' (not an old lady, though!).
After a couple of months treatment for Lyme with abx, they were gone. From time to time, I have noticed bumps in inner mouth & sometimes tongue - can be painful. As mentioned above, lesions can be associated with some auto-immune conditions, Lupus in particular, but I have screened very negative for anything like that.
So, once again, I accuse the Lyme! And it was/is not fungus, yeast,etc for me, because I had it before ever taking any abx & do not have yeast troubles of any sort. So for me, Lyme is best guess.

This and a burning mouth have been a huge problem for me for quiet a while now.
My doctor says the sores (for me) are aphthous ulcers (and autoimmune, he says) and the burning mouth could be deficient hormones due to menopause.
A little bit of organic coconut oil soothes it to some degree.
Herb Pharm has a nice oral tincture that helps, too.

Edited to add: DGL is great for this. Immediate relief.
De-Glycyrrhizinated Licorice extract has the glyc. removed so that you don't have to worry about it speeding up your heart.
you can get it many place, read label as some contain gluten.
www.vrp.com has a product called "Cease Fire" - you can search by that name or DGL at their site. They also have articles you can read about it.
It has some anti-microbial qualities to it. And, it's a bit of a treat. Helps h. pylori (also a spirochete).
NOW makes several formulas. Chewables. My current NOW formula contains glycine (great for liver and gallbladder).
Could it be hand-foot and mouth disease? Causes painful little blister like lesions on the inside of the mouth and throat. It is caused by a virus, also associated with a fever. And you don't have to have the lesions on your hands and feet also, that happens more with children.
You could try some "magic mouthwash". Mix equal parts benadryl and mylanta. Swish and spit the solution out. Helps coat and relieves pain. Worth a try if you in alot of pain, even if the blisters viral or lyme or who knows what else!

Yes. I had a sore on the inside of my right cheek for a long time... like years. It's always in the same place.
For some reason, it's seems to have gone away.
It could be herpes or herpes related? I do have herpes on my mouth but when I get a herpes outbreak it's different (on my lip - outside).
When you first get herpes on your mouth (like a fool I kissed someone with it when I was a teen), you get blisters all over the inside of your mouth, plus a flu-like illness.
It's very painful. It usually goes away in a couple of weeks but you end up having herpes all the rest of your life.
Did you come into contact with anyone who has oral herpes?
