Two month's ago I was bumped up to 400mg of doxy per day...this increase seems to correlate to my developing a cronically sore neck. It varys in severity day to day, but never goes away and is very bothersome. I never had this before, but now it's a constant in my life.
I don't see "sore neck" listed as a side effect of doxy...has anyone else experienced this? Or perhaps it's something else...

My neck hurts like crazy....stiff with stabbing pains.
Until mepron/biaxin for babesia.
It stopped hurting in two days.
I am on a mepron break (1 week) and do you know my neck pain is coming back??!!
I (think) for me it is babesia....but everyone has different symptoms and
Success with different meds.
Hugs,
Geneal

this is my personal opinion since i have 24/7 neck pain ....
1st, do you know WHERE the tick/s bite you? good chance the neck?
the doxy brought out pain in my entire body; i think there are just many spirochete hidden in neck areas...
for 20 months my right arm felt like i was a bunching bag for someone from day 1 of starting doxy; it quit AFTER DOXY/BIAXIN pulsed meds were stopped.
i have my trusty frozen ice packs for there and lower back since all 18 of 18 tender points are affected; good luck.
moistened heating pad also helps me... Posted by TerryK (Member # 8552) on :
A stiff neck is a classic lyme symptom. Didn't know about babs. I have babs and it doesn't seem to affect my neck much but then it's hard to sort out which infection is causing which symptom.
Just about everytime I start a new abx, my neck gets stiff and sore. Happens with my knees too which is another common place for lyme bacteria.
When the bacteria die in the tissues they cause inflammation due to the toxins being released.
Research trigger points, that can be another cause of a stiff/sore neck.
I'm not a doctor but it seems reasonable to think that your stiff neck might be related to die off since you didn't have it until you increased your doxy.
Are you doing anything to keep inflammation down? Detox?
Hope you get some relief from your neck pain. Mine comes and goes. The neck inflammation for me is always accompanied by changes in bite too. Makes it hard to chew.
