After months of going to the doctor regularly and telling them I had fatigue and dizziness, heart palpitations, etc. I finally have a diagnosis!
I am excited, yet worried that this has probably been going on for much longer than just the last few months.
When I stopped to think about the "vague" symptoms that I have had, this may have been years in the making.
The final straw was my left arm became numb and weak. My family physician the week prior had referred me to a rheumatologist for CFS.
She ran lots of labwork ( EBV, ANA, Mono, RPR, Lyme, CBC, etc.) By B12 levels had been low a couple months before ( that was my first diagnosis for my relentless fatigue).
5 weeks of B12 shots later and I was not feeling any better. The lab work came back low Vitamin D levels, elevated testosterone and postive Lyme.
I have a follow up with my MD tomorrow and will get a copy of my lab results.
I have been reading alot since my diagnosis and don't quite understand the lab tests and the bands, etc.
I am just trying to educate myself right now so that I can be my own advocate. It sounds like there isn't much support out there. I have two weeks of doxycycline to take and well........ any advice or websites or suggestions would be great!
Thanks!

Welcome Nu2...
Sorry you are here looking for information... but glad you FINALLY got a diagnosis.
When you get your test results.. come on back and let's see what we can to to help you along.
As far as 2 weeks of doxy... that is going to be increased isn't it? I do hope so!!!
What section of Florida are you calling home? N,S,E,W?
We are here to help.. and have been through a number of things you may encounter.. so don't be afraid to ask questions.. ok?
Just watch out for that goofy girl who calls herself Lymetoo. No matter how many times I tell her to behave.. it seems she is always dropping her drawers!!!
But we all like her so we put up with her strange ways.
Feel better soon!

Hi Nu2lyme,
Ya, that Lymetoo is naughty, always dropping her drawers on a whim.
On one hand, I'm sorry you have Lyme, though I am glad you have found your way to Lymeland.
If you get ONLY two weeks of doxycycline, and that's what it sounds like, that will ENSURE that you get chronic Lyme disease.
With signs and symptoms less than three months, 6 weeks of doxycycline (for kids, 6 weeks of amoxicillin) is required.
After three months, heavier doses of multiple antibiotics are needed, depending on your signs and symptoms and how long you've had it.
That's because chronic Lyme disease is very often disabling. Many of us need Social Security Disability. Our finances headed south a while ago. It's turned into another disease.
To be properly treated, it seems you need an LLMD (Lyme-literate MD) who is an ILADS physician. (www.ilads.org)
You mentioned that your testosterone levels are high. If you are a female, then please send me a private mail: click the icon at the top of THIS post from me. That could be PCOS. (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.) I have information on that.
Please come back to this site, as tincup said.
And welcome!

I am new to message boards so I didn't know if I should reply on the same post or start a new one.
Is there a " proper" way to post a reply?
I started a new post with my MD follow up results.
Very disappointed but I guess not surprised.

Hi!
Yes, you can post on an old thread or start a new one ... whatever.
I haven't read your other thread yet.

I resemble that remark! You two are really BAD!!!
Hey Nu....if you're answering someone's question it's best to reply to your thread so it's all in one place.
If it's a new topic...begin a new thread. Pretty simple!!
