I just got back my results for the spect scan and it says that I have prominent generalized reduction in cerebral cortical perfusion.
This is striking at the low-periental lobes and temporal lobes.
The impressions read that this pattern is seen in people with depression or chornic fatigue syndrome, but could relate to infection and vasculitis.
My question is, does anyone have received similar results to this and have they tried antidepressants? Did they work? Have you seen improvment?
Is this part of lyme?
Is there any known traditional or coventional treatment for this perfusion problem that anyone can suggest? I trully appreciate it.
I have to try and do something because my headaches are with me 24/7 and my abx are not cutiing it. I am on 6000 mg of amoxy/day for lyme.

since depression and fatigue are symptoms and not diseases, I would think it is caused by a disease process.
vasculitis or infection are probably the reason, or vasculitis caused by infection.
do you have lyme? since lyme is an infection, if you have it then it is probably in your brain. a lot of people with lyme have bad spects, but "prominent" and "striking" sound bad.
taking antidepressants is not going to cure an infection. thats a lot of amox. have you tried doxy? any herbs? maybe the die-off is causing the headaches?

I think this is probably a finding consistent with lyme also, but whoever read your SPECT scan was probably not educated about lyme and thus did not list it as a possibility. While SPECT is not really "diagnostic" for lyme, a good diagnostician will be familiar with patterns that are consistent with those seen in lyme disease and will list is as a possible diagnosis.
