I was driving to pick up my husband yesterday, and for some strange reason, I closed just my right eye.

Now mind you, I do wear glasses, and am near sighted, but I could barely see out of my left eye.

And this was with my glasses on!

Could this be another in the endless line of symptoms for Lyme, or am I just crazy?

tanya, how long did this last of not being able to see out of that eye?

i'm near-sighted too.

2 things came to my NON-MEDICAL mind:

.. a blood clot going thru the eye; this happened to my Dad after one of his surgeries while he was in the hospital;

.. another one is about RETINAL DETACHMENT; that is NOT TO BE MESSED AROUND WITH.

if in doubt SEE EYE SPECIALIST PROMPTLY because if it is retinal detachment, it must be fixed IMMEDIATELY.

tanya, a suggestion since you are brand new is editing your topic title to show question is:

about LOSING EYESIGHT in 1 eye briefly

to edit, please click on paper/pencil icon to right of your name which opens up subject line and body text.

now, that it will make it easier for EYEBOB, an regular eye dr., to come along and give you advise! good luck on getting his answer, etc. [group hug] [kiss]

hoping eyebob will come along. [Wink]

My left eyelid used to droop whenever I would hold a hair dryer to my head, but that was my electrosensitivities.

Ask your LLMD for a referral to an opthalmologist familiar with Lyme. Opthalmologists are by the nature of things tuned into neurological impacts on the visual nerve and eye as well as things that can affect the eye directly.

I had something similar happen last year: lost the entire center visual field in my right eye for several days. NEVER had that happen before. It gradually faded, and was almost gone by the time i saw the ophthalmologist. In my case, throughlooking at my history, we were able to determine that I had an atypical visual migraine. This is certainly not the only possibility.

I realized that the "fuzzy vision" I had occasionally experienced and still do was also migraine related. Usually it leads to a full-blown migraine (though not always) and so I know to take my migraine med as soon as I experience it.

The irony here is that that incident, along with another symptom I had never had before, were the opening salvo on a new Lyme infection. My pcp missed it, and he was supposedly an LLMD in training, so I trusted him. Now he is my pcp, period, and I am going to my regular LLMD, who immediately picked up on the significance. Back on abx, but expect to recover well.

It's actually more of an extreme blurriness in my left eye, accompanied with a very mild headache.

I came home from work today, and took a nap for about two hours. It seems to have improved, thankfully.

I am going in tomorrow to get this checked out by my eye doctor.

Hopefully everything will be OK with my retina.I'm not sure I could take another medical issue. [Frown]
