I took the regular Doxy and it only bothered me if I
did not eat first.

Many people on Lymenet say it solves the naseau problem. I have experience with it and it did not cause any problems.
I agree!!!

My son's LLMD prescribed Doryx (a gentler form of Doxycycline) to take with Rifampin to treat his Bart. It is easier on the stomach.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I agree get the Doryx it is so much easier on the gut. I would still recc. taking it with food though at the end of a meal. Even Doryx insert states to not lie down for at least an hour after taking it. So if you are tired do not lie completely flat down as it can cause Gi issues or reflux and esophogus burning or irratation. Also do not take it with in 2 hrs of any dairy products as it states on the insert.
I had horrible GI symptoms and Doryx did not affect my gut. So I say a switch to it even if it is more expensive.
Good luck and sent a PM too.

I'm currently on Doryx.
Found taking it in the middle of a substantial meal helps to avoid stomach problems, although I still have nausea from time to time.
Then again, my stomach is realllllly sensitive, so you might not have any problems with the Doryx at all.

I took Doxy after I started eating but towards the beginning of the meal. I too Prilosec once per day. It helped.
But, if in the end you can't tolerate it, why not go back to zith every day? Or try minocycline?

eating before it, taking the doxy on an empty
stomach, taking phenegan before the pill, and
when that failed an even more expensive nausea
pill zofran (works like magic with my chronic
nausea almost all the rest of the time) but,
alas this failed too. Has anyone else had such
bad luck with doxycycline? In 2006, when I was
just treated for Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever I was
given an IV of doxy for nine days in ICU. My
terrible infectious disease doctor never tested
me for any coinfections at the time and didn't
give me any antibiotics to take home with me.
Since then I have tested three times positive
for lyme. Could I be having such a strong
reaction because of my short time period being
on this medication? I am just at a giant loss
and am only getting my rifamprin down and so
worried because my night brain fogginess,
vertigo, red face flushes and headaches are back
since stopping the azithromycin seven days a
week with the rifamprin. I have cried for the
last three nights. Thanks guys.. and have
a WONDERFUL EASTER! Love to all.

I had a terrible time getting on Doxy. I also got really sick to my stomach on it. I now take Zantac twice a day, but not more then 2-3 hours of the Doxy, and my stomach is fine.
I think my stomach got better also after just being on it awhile.

I started doxy last Friday and already had the acid issues. I was switched to Doryx today and also taking Protonix in the morning. I hope this helps me too. How long before they can higher the dose past 200 a day?
