On doxy and levoquin. Took first dose of Diflucan 7 hours ago. Now extra dizzy, racing heart, and severe anxiety. Any thoughts please?

If you are having problems with your heart you need to contact a doctor ASAP.

Once they have checked out the situation... and ruled out heart problems or meds problems... please let us know.

Maybe others would have some ideas on the topic.

Hope you feel better soon!

Called poison control. Told me to wait a half hour. If not better go to ER. Seems to be getting a little bit better. But they did tell me about adverse interaction with Lev. Now just have sick icky feeling in my stomach with intermittent anxiety and heart pounding. Will stop taking diflucan. On top of everything, it just makes me feel really weird. Thank you very much.

Levaquin gave me those symptoms.

Racing heart, insomnia, tendon pain, etc.

May want to look at levaquin again.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hugs,

Geneal

FLUCONAZOLE (in Diflucan Oral) may interact with LEVOFLOXACIN (in Levaquin)

While the exact mechanism of this interaction is unknown, it is suspected that the use of fluconazole together with levofloxacin will result in an abnormally slow heart beat rhythm. As a result, the regular rhythm of heart contractions will be altered and the potential of a life-threatening arrythmia (abnormal heart beat) may occur. In general, altering the rhythm of the heart beat may be dangerous or potentially life-threatening. Fluconazole and levofloxacin are generally not recommended for use at the same time. However, if these drugs must be used together, your doctor may want to monitor you closely to make sure that you have normal heart function. Ask your healthcare provider about these drugs and this potential interaction as soon as possible.

This interaction is poorly documented and is considered major in severity.

I was told by my LLMD NOT to take my Diflucan with the Levaquin. When I filled my Rx, the register would not let the girl ring up this abx...without the pharmacist coming over to speak with me on making sure I did not take the 2 together.

The above precaution was taken from DrugDigest.

I'm not a doctor but my LLMD told me that while I was on Levaquin, I could NOT take Diflucan. So he took me off the Diflucan and put me on Nystatin instead.

I came home and checked on the computer and pulled up many of the programs I use.... ie http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Interaction/ChooseDrugs/ and sure enough, they talk about the symptoms of the heart when mixing these two meds.

Hope this helps. Probably not a good combination to risk.

Yikes...I just see that Bitten had already posted this exact same link. Sorry for the repeat, but guess we are trying to stress that this may not be in your best interest.

It might be an interaction between drugs, as the other posts have indicated.

But also levaquin, on its own, does cause all those symptoms.

Hope you get better.
