has any heard of this? I am being tested for this. Doc has me on IV rocehph and 1500 flagyl right now and WOW do I hurt and ache all over. pelvic area, chest bladder, even head all hurt and ache.

Brucellosis is how it's spelled....I think.

Interesting that you just posted this as this is an area I'm exploring as well.
It is Brucellosis and it is considered very rare (I think only 200 cases reported in the US/year). It is a disease that can be chronic and difficult to treat. Standard treatment is combination of antibiotics such as rifampin and ummm...I forget. Anyway, the symptoms can be numerous and of course overlap with many Lyme symptoms.
I was thinking that given what I describe above and this "BLO" mystery organism we talk about that can be treated with rifampin, I'm wondering if there isn't something here with regard to "BLO vs Brucellosis". Why couldn't ticks carry Brucellosis as well?? Or certainly you can get it many other ways as well.
I think it is a good idea to get tested. PLEASE be sure to follow-up with me and let me know how you make out as I'm very interested! I may get tested myself.

Brucella and Bartonella are basically very close cousins. Almost identical symptoms and respond to the same abx. Brucella is generally treated with streptomycin combined with rifampin. That would also work with bartonella. But Streptomycin and gentamicin are given via IV and have some worrisome side effects. I guess levaquin, cipro, minocycline and bactrim might be alternatives.

I posted the latest research on this a few days ago. A really good metanalysis was done. It showed that the best treatment was doxy, gentamyacin and rifampin...for more than 6 weeks. Hope this helps.

Interesting in regards to the Cipro usage,considering that my lyme affects my prostate and the levaquin or cipro always clears it up quickly. HMM

Its quite strange to me how they CLAIM it is such a RARE affliction,not to worry,,,WHY there are so darn Many posters here WITH it!!
I always THOUGHT i was afflicted with it. Even had a test once,,,found out later that lab probably did it wrong and left it cool(sample) and that ruins test.
I had mid level titers of it,,,so IF I never had it at all as they claim,,,why do I even show medium high titers??, defined negative test.
BUT my idea of completely negative would be 0 and not show ANY!!
SO if the test was friged till they had time to process,,,most ALL labs do this routinely,,,THATS the reason it tested low!!
ONE word of advice for testing,,,maybe have fry labs do it,,might be more productive,,,but IF it cant be cooled,,,would have to ask THAT question!!
"HOW" tests are done have MORE effect on outcome than the sample they collect!!SO if you test,,make sure ahead of time they KNOW how to do it RIGHT!! DONT ASSUME!!!like--just don--

Many can only tolerate a SLIVER of a 250mg to begin with. It can knock you on your butt!

Brucellosis is not all that rare and I don't see why it couldn't be transmitted by ticks.
If you've ever traveled in Europe or had unpasturized milk products in other countries [or here] you would be at a higher risk of having it.

You are correct in knocking me on my butt. I am taking a few days off to recover because the body aches and severe pains (in personal areas) were too much too handle. Everything from my head to my knees ache. It even hurts to expand my lungs(ribs ache). We do learn as we go don't we.

Dont forget B12 and your probiotics and magnesium but dont take those at the same time as the antibiotics take at least 2 to 3 hrs after .
I wouldnt take days off unless its life threating herxs hurt anyway you cut it drink lots of water and maybe het a antihistamine benydryl?
