I got off my abx 2 weeks ago today. Literally the day after stopping abx, I started to experience a form of withdrawal
My Rheum and LLMD said there should not be bad withdrawal, there was. My LLMd thinks it's a relapse, I beg to differ!

Most of my symptoms like neck pain, cramping, GI issues, hips pain, dizziness and headaches are gone, but what I was left with after the doxy was MAJOR anxiety (provoked and unprovoked anxiety attacks) and last week (week after stopping doxy), I had the sweats REALLY bad and the shakes.

I have suffered from anxiety for over 20 yrs, but nothing like I'm experiencing now. I also never had the non stop sweats and shakes before

What do my fellow lyme Soldiers make of this?

I don't know peacesoul, but maybe a co-infection is coming out possibly?

I hope you find out exactly what is going on soon. And so sorry the symptom is anxiety. I have had major anxiety as well. It's awful.

As you may already know, anxiety is supposed to be associated with Bartonella (its one of my main symptoms as well).

Good luck.

Hi Peacesoul,

I agree with the above, yes, bart is known for anxiety.

Could babs cause your shaking and sweating?

This has happened to me a few times going off abx. It could be one or all of the following:

1) biotoxin buildup (you need cholestyramine or something like it)
2) yeast build up...bulk up on your probiotics and get diflcuan or nystatin to KILL it
3) an undetected coinfection

Address the first two and see how you feel in a few weeks. Both the biotoxin load and yeast toxins can cause HORRIFIC anxiety.

Lots of epsom salt baths, too...sweat those mothers out!

Best,

thanks for all the grest replies :-)

My LLMD thinks I do have bart. I also think I do because of the anxiety.

I was thinking about the yeast as well. I'm still taking probiotics but stopped my Nystatin. Maybe I'll take it on the weekend and see how it makes me feel.

I've always had anxiety but never as severe as since stopping abx.
I've also been taking xanax (.25) a day for the last month. I used to only take xanax as needed like maybe 1/2 .25 every 3 months.

I'm wondering if some of my symptoms are side effects from the xanax as well??

I'm so reluctant to get back on abx after 4 months on.
I'm trying some homeopathy now.

I can handle ANY darn symptom but this anxiety.
Give me the runs, give me joint pain, GOD give me back aches, but the anxiety is brutal!

It sounds like you may have not been treated long enough or with strong enough medications. What do you see a Rheumatologist for?
What antibiotics were you on, what doses, and for how long?

xanax can cause horrible withdrawl symptoms, so it is possible that this is the problem.

Feel better

Hmmmm, the more I read, the more I'm thinking you may have Bart, too!

If you want to avoid abx for a bit to calm down the yeast, you could try Cumanda from Nutramedix.com.

My LLMD had me on it to hit my Bart, too. This was in adjunct to abx but you could use it alone until you're ready to get tested/treated for Bart with abx.

Bart is #1 coinfection for ANXIETY! It's horrific.

Best.
