I'd kind of prefer they turn off the frequencies that cause me to smoke.
I know MANY of my friends and co-workers who have quit using a new drug called Chantix.
I hope I spelled it right.
I have been told it is not like other quit smoking aids, in that it does not contain niccotine or anti-depressants.
It targets the receptors in the brain that effect addiction and slowly shut them off.
Anyone else heard of this drug?
I want to try it, but like any new drug that pops up you have to give it a year or so and see if anyone dies or has some horrible side effect.
There is nothing worse than watching the news and seeing the drug that you are taking pop up as being pulled by the FDA, because of some crazy new finding.

Yes I tried Chantix....there is a nice lawsuit being made up of people who have died as a result of using this medication and I can tell you personally why!
this stuff changes ones personality GREATLY...not to mention the nausea I had to endure.
I would NOT recommend trying this medication for the cessation of smoking to ANYONE!
TRUST ME ON THIS ONE FOLKS....don't try it!

Same concerns here as all here, which is why I posted here. considered chantix, but took wait and see....didn't get chance to check the patent, or what it is, or does...found out in the media.
Tony, While I don't know the side effects, or metabolic pathway it takes, and so on, thorne.com has a short blurb of an explanation on it; other company's may sell this product, as well, I don't know at this pont.
I once did a seach, and found only one Yahoo group comment, and this was years ago. a positive review, but only one review.
In general, I'm familiar w/ the inventor's medical approach to illnesses, and therefore I'm inclined to try it.

Pingpong - I have heard good things about sulfonil to help stop smoking. That is all I know
I don't know how Lymies would deal with the chantix. But we are not all the same. Some would probably have a horrible reaction and some might do fine.

I'm trying an electronic cigarette right now from Belgium.
I will try to switch completely to it, then I will smoke lower nicotine levels, then no nicotine, then maybe quit.
It's just like smoking a real cigarette. It is satisfying cause it makes a vapor like smoke.
However, it is expensive. It is supposedly harmless to anyone.

I haven't read all the replies on here but wanted to say that I smoked at LEAST a pack a day since I was 16... so for 14 years I was a smoker. I got on Chantix and smoked for 2 weeks while on it, then quit for good. I couldn't afford to take the Chantix for the 3 months they suggest and I still did it! I have been quit since July!!! And this is coming from somebody who got extremely ****y just THINKING about giving up my smokes! I never really thought Id ever truly be able to quit.
I'm SOOO glad I was wrong!

My main concern is interaction of effects w/rt having many meds,prescriptive, and/or otc in my system.
Trepidation about ening up in the e.r. as a consequence of mixing the unknown w/ the known.

Yeah, chantix makes your stom hurt, you do get more used to it after a few weeks, but it DOES block the cravings very well. However, I found that chantix is so close to nicotine, it may as well be nicotine. When I stopped the chantix, it was like as if I never stopped smoking. I am using zyban lexapro and 5-htp tramadol and immetrex yes its dangerous, but it blocks the cravings. Dangerous due to massive seratonin from each, but I have lyme babs bart, so I bet I am sarotonin level -100 at this point. Anyway, in no smokin day 5 now, feel tired, sleep all day.

Yup, I have the Rx for Chantix that has now sat in my Walgreen's Like medicine cabinet for a year now.
At the time I got the Rx I just could not bring myself to take anymore pills, as well as I could only picture myself going thru a Herx AND nicotine withdrawal at the same time Not a pleasant thought for me.
I have been all the rounds with trying to quit, only know that I have smoked alot more since being ill...and I KNOW that cannot make matters any better.
I somehow need to get on the stop smoking bandwagon and just bite the bullet.

Yeah, I cant stand chantix due to the stomach pain, I find with the abx, I just cant take it. I ordered this sulfilan thing and hope it helps, I almost relapsed last night and so glad I didnt as I am one puff away from a pack a day.

Chantix WORKS very well, I would rather take an anti depessant instead, and they help too BTW. I read a book on smoking addiction, and heres the take..nico effect really all the nurotransmitters, yes, ALL. For ex seratinin dopamine, etc. AND other prob, esp for stupid doctors, (there ARNT any right huh) Nico effects each nuro trans differently in difernt people, so no drug is the perfect match. That said, the book is end your addiction now, and i am not making a red cent on the endorsment. (too bad) anyway, great.. sulfonal on it or 4 days, feel fine, stopped zyban feel fine. (just fatigue, but i had that before) adrenals shot from bugs. I think its too early to tell for me if sulfonin is helping, tbc. BTW, the book? 5-htp (under tongue for 15min and spit out if bothers stom) WORKS too. Book, 5 htp, l=tyrosine, um, glutamine (watch this one..usually INCREASES brain ammionia unless what you would think-laugh but theres research done by a hosptial on it) SUPER MEGA dose B vitamins. I take longevital from swanson since its got TONS of it. u take 14 daily...as label. Or any MEGA B complex, and since there sentici vitas, take one new chapter organics B complex or a multi, OD on iron btw, and die, watch out. New Chap and swans didnt pay me for this endorsment, but theres co-vitas in organic vitas that humans dont even know about yet, so the sent. vitas actually make you SICKER. So, even low dose, but a organic mult and a super strong multi 'fake' is my way and sulfonil and happy.
