I was just wondering.....

Does the body weight make a difference in the dosage most LLMD doctor's prescribe?

For example, if a child was say 50, 75 or 100 lbs would they prescribe a different levels than they would for say, a 150lb or 200 lb. adult?

I've seen people mention 200mg and seen others mention 400mgs.

Sorry, I can't answer the dosage/weight question but the ILADS guidelines state 300-400 mg for adults. The guidelines mention blood levels as a reasonable way to guide dose.

200 mg is usually what is given by the non-LLMD's who don't understand chronic lyme disease.

Dosage

Increasingly, clinicians recommend that certain drugs used for Lyme disease be given at higher daily doses: for example, 3,000-6,000 mg of amoxicillin, 300-400 mg doxycycline, and 500-600 mg of azithromycin. Some clinicians prescribe antibiotics using blood levels to guide higher doses. Close monitoring of complete blood counts and chemistries are also required with this approach.

I'm not familiar with children's doses. You might check the guidelines for something about that but in a very quick search, I didn't see anything. Hopefully someone will come along with more info.

Yes, your weight matters. And absolutely a prescription for a child will be different than for an adult depending on age, weight, etc.

Anyone on long term abx needs regular bloodwork to make sure liver, kidneys, etc, are doing ok.
