I was recently talking with a Lyme researcher at a major university. This person indicated that Bartonella isn't very common in the Northeast. What are your experiences? Have any of you guys picked up Bart in the Northeast (PA, DE specifically)?

Forgive my french, but that's BS. I'm from Boston and two of my family members have Bart.

I think I was born with it.

The Northeast is notorious for every TBD. No state in this country is free of them.

Please don't be brainwashed by that comment. Do not throw caution to the wind.

Best,

Thanks for responses. Is Bart fairly straightforward to treat/cure?

There are specific abx you must take for Bart. You can do a search but some of the options are:

Rifampin & Zithro
Rifampin& Doxy
(Rifampin has to be taken with another abx to prevent resistance to Bart)
Levaquin (oral or IV)
Cipro
Biaxin (with another abx)

Please research because there are many different opinions on the above but it's totally subjective based on each person's experience.

Best,

Paul,
What's your story? When bit, symptoms, testing (which labs), diagnosis, treatments, dosage, duration, etc.?

Thanks.

Oconnor, what were your Bart symptoms? I haven't been tested yet, and am wondering whether I should be... I am treating Lyme.

From what I read on this board it's MORE common in the NorthEast.

I got bart in northern Maryland.

I heard it's more common than Lyme itself in the northeast.

My major Bart symptom was full body spasms that resembled seizures. I would fall on the ground and my whole body would shake. My head would slam on the ground.

Levaquin stopped all that, thank GOD! No more collapsing in supermarkets or needing valium at the ER to calm things down.
