About three weeks ago I noticed that the vision of my left eye became worse - blurry, covered by film, and can't see clearly. This was very obvious, so I wonder if you've had similar experience?

I'll ask Dr. J in SC this Friday and see what specialists he suggests that I need to see to rule out other diagonosis (can't blame lyme for everything, right?).

But before then, your input and story-sharing are highly appreciated!

Yes but it's getting better with treatment.

My sister-in-law practically went blind in one eye and was MIS-diagnosed with MS.

Thankfully, we got her to an LLMD and she tested positive. Eye is 100% normal after abx treatment.

Hope that helps!

I have had problems with my vision since being infected with lyme. My left eye is worse and my pupil is sluggish.

Unfortunatley, it hasn't gotten better with treatment. I believe it is permanent damage from the disease.

my vision DEFINATELY got worse.

4 days into a (good) antibiotic combo,
suddenly my vision was nearly perfect
again.

I was diagnosed with a really bad conversion disorder (eye teaming problem) and had to have vision therapy for several months.
I let it go far too long (close to 4 years) I would have seen a specialist sooner if I could have a do over...

go to SUPPORT and read ICESKATER'S story; she had retinal detachment surgery this week; lost all her eyesight in that eye within last 2 years!!

so DON'T mess around with this; i'd see if you can get into this week to EYE SPECIALIST making sure it's NOT a retinal detachment.

do you have one of those squares with all the lines in; ARE THEY WAVY TO YOU? if yes, get in PROMPTLY to see eye spec.

good luck to you! [group hug]

I had a similar thing with my right eye -- the eye doc said it was optic neuritis. I was really scared because the vision went very quickly. What helped me the most was acupuncture (needles placed very close to the actual eye!), and it helped dramatically on the first treatment. My vision is back to normal now.

I have EXACTLY what you describe w/the blurry vision and film over eye. Can't blame everything on Lyme but must be since we both have it. Don't have any answers though so hopefully someone will come along that will address what exactly causes the film thing.

My pupil is also more dilated in that eye and I have pain in the hollow of my neck on the same side as well as my ear and sinus with feeling of fluid in my ear. Also when I rub that eye it makes a squishy sound like fluid behind the eye. My regular doctor said it should make that sound but the normal eye doesn't do that.

Thanks for all your input. My right pupil is bigger and has worse vision. But now, my left eye has worse vision. It's funny though, early in the morning when I first get up, my left eye has better vision for a few hours [confused] [confused]

What kind of eye specialist should I seek? I remember I got referred to a neuro-opticist by an eye specialist, but I didn't tag along.

Thanks!

I got blurry vision as well when I first got really ill. It didn't last long though especially when I got treatment.

Just made an appointment for next Friday with a neuro ophthalmologist. Hopefully I'll have some brain scans or MRIs done with no problem identified. Then I can feel "rest assured" that it's because of lyme.

Hard to deal with one problem after another, keeing fingers acrossed. [group hug] [bow]

Yep I have the same thing in my left eye. blurred vision with a film of debris over it. Have a bad case of vitritis said my eye doc. Still trying to get a treatment that will help.

It cleared right up with my initial 3 week ricephin treatment a year ago but since then it has goten wore and the orals don't seem to do much. Although since stopping the doxy 2 weeks ago the throbbing in my eyes stopped. Might have been hitting something??

I'm going to try IV again. If I don't sort it out soon I will be in trouble I think [confused]
