If you have "sore soles" with bart... what do yours feel like?
I'm not in bart treatment right now, but expect to begin again in a few months. Dealing with other issues in the meantime, but holy cow are my feet killing me!
It's not the same pain as the pain I attribute to peripheral neuropathy, it's a different type of pain altogether.
How would you describe your bart foot pain?

Mine are tender, like I've been walking on rocks for days with maybe a few added hot coals. The heels hurt and when I walk, they feel tight, like the muscle running all the way up the back of my leg is being pulled on and is very tight. I also sometimes get sharp pains in the bottoms of my feet.

I'm assuming this is from Bart...but it's very new..
My foot pain is sharp and mostly comes in short burst...
My hands get the same thing..all of a sudden when I went to touch something it HURT!
it seems only when I walk it hurts, not if I was sitting..but as I said, short, sharp/dull and quick...
same with my toe & finger joints...short sharp burst...almost like something if vibrating..
This is a new symptom for me, so rather new at this one....
The sole of my foot hurt like a dull ache..that felt 'internal' rather than on the surface...if that makes any sense...

I am not sure if my foot pain is Bart or not. At night it feels like my feet have grown a whole size while my skin stayed in the same spot. Boy does it hurt! Do you think this is Bart? Posted by TerryK (Member # 8552) on :
dbourne, Your LLMD (if you have one) would probably know. It sounds like edema to me. Do your feet swell?

Although my feet don't hurt, I clearly have neuropathy in them;
they feel like they're vibrating constantly.

Terry, that is an excellent description. I'm finding that the balls of my feet are the sorest, but in general it is pretty evenly spread across the bottoms of my feet, and hurts whether walking or sitting. The mornings are the worst - ouch - and now it's turning into an all-day experience.
Fawne, yes, I know just what you are describing, too. I've had a lot of neuropathy issues that affect both hands and feet. I hope this is a symptom that will come and go quickly for you.
dbourne, do ask you LLMD about this... foot pain is often associated with bart. I don't know about edema, though.
adamm, internal vibrations are no fun. Is it in your hands, too? ...did your signature line say you're not in treatment right now? Are you seeing any changes as a result of that?

you know in cartoons when someone gets stung my a bee and they instantly have this large red pulsing blob on there nose? Well thats how my feet feel! I have the vibrations too....

I sometimes wake up and feel like I've been standing all night long. Like what I imagine in must feel like after a double shift as a waitress.
Achey. It feels like it's the muscles on the bottom of my feet that hurt. Very tender to the touch. A foot massage hurts, but feels good at the same time.
I feel better when I wear a shoe with a slight heel. That might be because I have high arches and flats often don't have enough arch support.
Does that help? Wearing elastic ankle supports reduces the pain. The kind that you slip over your feet. I think it's because they reduce inflammation by restricting blood flow and they give arch support.

This foot pain is a new and very painful phenomina for me too. Throbbing pain just started at heel and goes to big toe joints/bunions...but diff from plantar fasciitis I had a few years ago.
Jaw pain just started too...it is really hitting me today. Already have a LOT of tendon pain in shoulders, achilles, knee is letting up a little.
Haven't run in over a month due to tendon issues...I am so tempted just to try as no exercise is making depression even worse. Can't swim due to shoulder, bike due to knee, run due to achilles., ski due to shoulders, even elliptical aggravated knee. Going insane.

yes My feet hurst too.Starting with bunions, sole, can not bend the big toe as it really hurts ...even right now.
Some days I wake up with pain on my hands and sometimes they feel swollen and I have hard tiume to remove my ring.
Mostly my feet hurt when I wake up in the morning..they used to hurt tremendously last year..but in one year of treatment is less..but still there.
When I was herxing in the begining ..I was walking as an handicap ...everything was acking ..I used to change shoes..now I know was my feet...
They look like they change size also ..sometimes some shoes seem ok sometimes they look tight.
Hands hurts mostly in the morning and I can not hold tight something and my fist is very weak... I am careful not to carry anything heavy in the morning as it might drop on the floor.
I recall that they i first got bart ...I woke up with swollen eyes and pain on my heels...and I said..Boy ..why my feet hurts so much ...and I avoided waking as it would hurt tremendously . This is BART....and I feel it and it is still there in my exstremities .

I've had bart for a while and can't say that foot pain is among my primary symptoms. I have gotten some heel pain recently which I chalked up to levaquin.
5-6 years ago and about a year before my symptoms really flared, I got a neuroma in my right foot which required surgery. At the time, I thought it was a running related injury as it flared after a hard road 10 mile race. Perhaps it was bart starting to rear its ugly head.

I just started rifampin for suspected bart (I wasn't positive), and though it has a lot of side effects, it is helping some symptoms (sleep, sweats, vision).
My knees hurt, but not my feet. Occasionally I'll get a quick sharp pain in one foot - like once or twice a month - but it's rare.
Why isn't bart in my feet?
My hands are the same way - they rarely hurt.
My back, neck, head, jaw - those are what hurt constantly, and if I skip the metronidazole, my knees.

Hi there,
I have some numbness and tingling in my feet and hands.
With the feet though at times I can hardly stand to walk on them. With or without orals. Entire bottom hurts.
I've bought the more costly shoe inserts that have a good instep support which has helped alot.
I bought mine at Walmart and some cheaper ones for my slippers too.
It'll help.

I feel like theres glass in my heels when I stand up in the morning. Then it goes away the longer Im up.
