7 tabs twice a day every other day for two weeks per month (while on the IV antibiotics and Mepron at the same time).

I'm going to be starting it soon, 2 caps 2x/day, 3 weeks on, 1 week off.
So Maureen, if you're on it, how are you taking it?

300-500 mgs 2x day - i pulse 2-5 days on depending, and then at least 2 days off.
Empty stomach with oil - olive oil or fish oil or evening primrose.
I am also on lots of other babs meds - mepron, zith, plaquneil, hoping to d the heparin also. Very effective against babs.

Eight capsules of Artemesiae (from Zhang) per day along with Mepron and Zithromax. The combination seems to be working.

I was taking 600 mg. a day 1 week on, 3 weeks off, as recommended by my LLMD. However, I think I want to take less per day for a longer period (maybe 200 mg. a day for 3 weeks on, 1 week off).
Not sure if that will be okay, so I was wondering how you were all taking it.
Thanks!

i take 100mg of artemisinin (allergy research group) 3 times daily.
In addition i take Mepron, biaxin, and plaquenil, at least that are relevant to this post.

Maureen,
There are so many different brands and strengths, that I think it's hard to know for sure. I was taking Zhang art while doing the mepron and zith.
But I think each body responds differently to it and found that sadly, trial and error of how you are feeling was the best indicator.
Are you taking anything else with the art?

I take 400mg three times a day with grapefruit juice because supposedly it helps the artemisinin absorb better. I'm also on mepron, zith, and flagyl... so pray for my liver.

The reason that people pulse artemisinin is that, according to Schaller:
"it is important to recall that arteminisin induces its own metabolism. After only 5 days the blood levels fall to 1/5th of the dose found on day 1. This artemisinin enzyme induction begins just two hours after the very first dose."
That is why many pulse it for 3-5 days and then go off and start up again after a few days. From what I understand from his book, this will allow for optimal levels of art to kill the babs, while also reducing the risk of toxicity to the liver. While the artemisinin levels fall (and stop killing the babs), the metabolites continue to rise with treatment (causing potential harm).
This info is from page 90 of Schaller's "The Use of te herb Artemisinin for Babesia, Malaria and Cancer".
