Cotton,
I've only dabbled with it, so I'm not one to judge. I would recommend joinin the lyme_aid_buhner group at yahoo and discussing this with them. There are several there that have extended positive experience with the protocol.....some of whom were pretty sick to begin with.

Dear Cotton,
I tried it. I seemed to have some beneficial results....then I went unconscious for about 1/2 an hour. Twice. So, I'm not doing it any longer.
According to my LLMD, this situation is very, very unusual, and probably more related to my genetic structure than the protocol itself.
If you want some of the bulk herbs, I have many and will ship them to you. I have also made some tinctures (Red Root, Boneset, Teasel, Siberian Gensing) that I could send.
PM me about that.
Best,
Cass A

You know, everyone I can think of who was using this protocol, seems to have left this board.
Checking out the chat forum for this protocol is your best bet for indepth answers.

I'm using it and I have found it very helpfull,
My LLMD also added Zhangs protocal, because he feels we have to hit the coinfections in order to truely get the Lyme.
Another thing I use is Pau D'arco. I have not seen it in any of the protocalls but whenever I stop it I know the differrence.

I don't do the entire protocol. But with andrographis it's been helpful for me. It made me herx for two weeks when I first started it. Must be good somehow then!!!

My wife takes the herbs in the core protocol. We really havent been able to tell how effective it is. But she thinks the smilax definately helps her clean out her system.
I wish we could give you more information of the effectiveness of the other herps.
I take the knotweed and ginsing myself and I don't have lyme.
Seems like it can't hurt

my wife's been on only herbs since Jan of this year.
She's made more progress on the 4 months of herbs than she did on the 5 months of abx prior to the herbs.
She's on a cocktail of artemisia, andrographis, cat's claw, smilax, teasel and goldenseal, with occasional neem tea and green tea regularly.
One word of advice - unlike abx, herbs don't have a long half life in your system - the active compounds concentrate in the tissues and get metabolized a lot faster than most abx. So you've got to be disciplined and not miss doses.

Some problems occur because herbs are not one size fits all. I use muscle testing to identify what and how much of a protocal will help my body. Kinesiology helps you know how much your body can handle without overload. It can identify what you need out of a protocal and what you don't.

Buhner herbs definitely help me, they add something necessary ; i wouldn't want to be without them.
I take andrographis, polygonum, teasel, and sarsparilla. They all help, along with dozens of other things...
