Hello,

I'm currently trying to get my husband in to see a LLMD (I got a lot of good rec's from this board), but in the interim he wanted to try a treatment. No flames - we know the risk, did as much research as we could, and are still going to get in to a LLMD. I take Doryx (Doxy) for acne, so he started taking 400 mg of it a day.

He started taking it 4/14 and in the last three days has seen significant improvement. His fatigue, chills, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and mind haze are gone (he started with symptoms 1/7/08). The only thing that remains is the extreme joint pain.

He's never had inflamation or swelling, just pain. The main joints affected are elbows, knees and hands. Any thoughts on whether this is Lyme or a co-infection? What helps you for your joint pain? He's tried various pain meds and they aren't helping. He's also stared taking suppplements.

We realize this is only the start, but are so thankful for the improvement. We feel lucky the he's only gone four months, knowing that so many people go years without diagnosis or treatment. We appreciate everyone telling their story on here - it helped us not listen to the ducks and keep pursuing the cause of his problems. It's crazy to think that a common antibiotic widely prescribed could have helped him four months ago.

Research lyme babs bart, etc find out the signs and study it, then ask yourself if you have these...blindly do this, then check the results. That what I did, and I found lyme bart and babs, and appears now dead right. [Mad]

I still get joint pain, 19 months into treatment.

It could be Lyme and/or co-infections causing this.

Watch out for herxing....For me on doxy it hit about 4-5 days in.

Your LLMD should be able to recognize possible co-infections with Lyme

Whether they test for it or not.

Salmonella can do this... without having the other fun symptoms of it... like "the runs" etc.

I suggest getting to a LLMD for proper tests and treatment... because catching it early is the best.

Waiting till later is too late for nearly all people and can have life-long consequences.

Tell them doxy helped.
