Aloha,

I have to travel to California (laguna beach area) tonight and am trying to find a doctor/nurse to give me my Bicillin shots...

(I am not brave enough to give them myself:()

What have others done when traveling and needing these shots given....

Iam having trouble finding someone that doesn't cost tons of $$$$$$$$....any ideas?

My insurance only covers EMERGENCY ROOM visits when out of state..... [Frown]

the only place that would see me wanted $140 for a dr visit and $30 per shot!

I have called home nurse care...and community clinics....

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Thank you! and many mahalos!

Much love and Light!

I'd go to the ER... (after NORMAL business hours) and tell them you are traveling and your shot arrangements fell through.. and you can't do it yourself. All true.

You'll get a trained nurse there and it will be paid for.

If that fails.. try a local fire department. They often have paramedics on duty that might be sympathetic.

Hope that helps.

Thanks TIn for your advice....

I called my insurance company, and they said it all matters what code the emergency room

uses...he read me a list of the symptoms considered 'emergency' (which some I have) but

ultimatly if the ER codes it as an emergency or not...

so I'm fearful of stepping in that door because what if they won't mark it as an emergency or

somewhere down the line wires get crossed and I'm stuck with SIX emergency room bills.... [Frown]

the fire deparment is an idea...you got a smile out of me on that one...that's so hawaiian style...haha thanks

Anyone else?

Anyone in that area?

mahalos~

I was in LB 3 weeks ago...with burned knuckles!
Almost went to the ER myself.
Have fun, or at least try.

Just wear your bikini to the fire dept. and I'm sure you'll have no trouble at all! [lol]

I like the way you say you "have" to go to Laguna Beach. Poor thing, we all feel sorry for you.

Las Brisas (I think that's what it's called, on top of the cliff overlooking the beach), is a great restaurant.

Aloha Fawne!

Finding someone to inject the Bicillin is doable.

Go on the internet and find a medical clinic that isn't too far from the beach...OK, so at least a clinic IN Laguna Beach.

Then give a call while u are still in Hawaii. Let them know you'll be visiting, and ask them what they require (likely prescription). Fax all the info ahead so u have no surprises.

Give us the thumbs up if / when you have success!

Best wishes,

Oh, Tracy and I have eaten at that restaurant, so beautiful!

Also the Mandarin Chinese restaurant in Laguna Beach is the BEST restaurant I have ever eaten Chinese food at!

Are you with anyone, friend, relative who can be browbeaten into giving you the shot??? My wife couldn't get a nurse last week and had our teenage son do it.

Keep in mind anyone you approach to do this... may not.

THEY are responsible for their actions. They risk a lot doing it.

If you were to drop dead.. they would be liable.

If you were to put Drain-o in the syringe and they injected you... they would be liable.

My bet is the ER may not even give you YOUR injection for that reason.

So either skip the injection for the week... or go to the ER and take your chances on the bill.

Sorry I can't come up with anything else.

Why don't you accept responsibility for your body and your own health care and learn how to do injections yourself? It's easy. Or have a friend learn how. Saves $$ and time and stress.

I did mine own. After the first couple it's easy.
