I'm just trying to add up why I had a bad week last week:
1) Taking the Mag Malate was definitely a mistake and I was much validated by your responses. The draining fatigue/mild headaches and lack of appetite continued for one full week...just beginning to get better.
2) The only other varaiable was that I stopped the Theralac (took the month's worth). Should I be taking the maintenance level rather than just stopping it? I take Florastor and other probiotics but maybe the Theralac was helping more than I thought?
3) Then there's always the wretched possibility of a relapse of Bart after one month off of abx OR the asymptomatic Babs is rearing its ugly head. It doesn't feel like the Bart that I know...more like what I've read you guys describe as Babs.
Thank goodness I'm talking to my LLMD tomorrow! Keep you posted but any experiences or input would be great.
Thanks again,

In my daughter's case, the Florastor was the problem. She tolerated it for the first few weeks, then it gave her gut pain. She stopped it, the pain went away...she take it, the pain would start again.
The Theralac may be keeping the Florastor in check.

Why stop the best probiotic on the planet??

YES>>>> Could be either theory on babs and bart. UGH.

I ran out and am also taking Florastor, Primal Defense and Nystatin so I thought, not being on abx for over a month that those would be enough.
I think the Theralac was doing more good than I realized.
Thanks for your input, friends! Posted by lymeinhell (Member # 4622) on :
Clarissa
I've been off abx more than 3 YEARS and I still need to take Theralac or else my stomach is still a mess.
Your GI system will need way more than a month to recover once your treatment is done. Remember, 70% of our immune system is in our gut.
Hope you feel better!! Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
Yes, I was going to add that I'm not even taking abx and I still take Theralac.
I would dump the Primal Defense and/or Florastor before I would drop the Theralac.
However, Florastor protects against s.boulardi.
I bought Nutricology's s.boulardi.

Wow...that's really good to know. I had NO idea Theralac was that powerful.
I have absolutely no appetite, nauseous, can only get down carbs (not bad ones but nonetheless, carbs), headachey (feels connected to the stomach), numbing/tingling left arm and leg (Lyme side)and exhaustion...in bed all day (didn't even have that when I was treating Bart).
I've been off abx a month since treating Bart but NONE of these symptoms feel like Bart (not the Bart I had, at least).
It's either: 1) Mag Malate brought out something wretched 2) withdrawal from Theralac 3) asymptomatic Babs coming out 4) or just a normal person's flu and I'm just completely paranoid!
I talk to him (my LLMD) today, thank goodness. In the meantime, I'll be ordering my Theralac.
Theralac users: do you take it daily or at the maintenance dose?
Thanks to all for your advice and support!

YEASTY BEASTY!!!
Get back on the Theralac and hit the yeast with Diflucan or Nistatin.
(Ginger will really help with the nausea).
Feel better!!

Yes Ma'am! I think you're all 100% right.
I spoke to my LLMD and he said the Malate definitely set off some adverse reactions (and of course the going off of Theralac).
As I've only been off abx almost 6 weeks he wants to see if my own immune system can push through this "blip on the screen."
We're going to watch it closely but it DOES sound yeasty AND the malate TOTALLY disagreed with me so he doesn't want to jump the gun and start loading me with toxins again...yet.
So we're going to check back in at the 8-9 week mark of abx. Meanwhile, on with the immune builder plan; detox, probiotics, exercise and lots of good ole' supplements.
Keep you posted and thanks SO much, as always, for your experienced wisdom and empathy.
Gratefully,

Theralac makes me sick. Whenever I try to take it I get gassy and bloated and feel sluggish. Florastor and VSL #3 are the way to go.
