Hi All My lower back pain just won;t go away. MRI doesn't show any major damage. I have a had back surgey about 13 years ago. back was fine until lyme. I think the bugs are just hanging out in my lower back. So the pain will be there until the bugs are gone.
Question- I know I can't get a steriod shot but is there a simalar shot I can get that will help with the imfalamtion.
Thx all Posted by bettyg (Member # 6147) on :

Have you tried a chiropractor? I used to find great relief from being adjusted.

How about physical therapy w/heat, electrical stimulation, and massage?
I have low back pain, which is actually in my piriformis muscle (gluteals). I have been doing PT for about a month, and it seems to be helping.
Next are excercises for strengthening the core muscles in order to reduce strain on the problem muscles.
If your pain is muscular, PT may help.

Paul, is it more of an ache or spasms? If it is the latter, you might want to think about your magnesium status. many lymiea are depleted. More characteristic symptoms of depletion are twitching and fluttering sensations. It it's more of an ache, regular massage that pays special attention to what some call the "posterior chain" (spinous erectors, glutes, hamstrings, and psoas major) might help. At least it will feel good.

Ask your MD & look into the aforementioned TENS, Chiro, PT, Vax-D, trigger point, Prolotherapy etc.
Epidural Roid shots are just too dicey for us Lymies & can be a DISASTER! Caused me much grief, not worth it.

paul, my abx/supplement treatments have NOT helped my back at all.
my entire right side of back from shoulders to hip line, you can NOT TOUCH ME THERE ... SO MUCH PAIN! massages work only while there. i leave and the pain is back.
so i live with my frozen ice packs applied there or moistened heating pads rotating them.

Thx all some good stuff to look into. I have tried a lot of ur suggestions but not all of them.
My main problem I think is inflamation in my lower back . I think it's right on the nerve.
